Is there an issue with Liturgical worship?

Problem is, it's in the "trying to prove" that discord comes. Proof and rebuttal gets nowhere for the cause of Christ. Starting with "those people don't know their bible enough..." may result in "I know my bible just fine, thanks very much", and the end of the conversation. It does nothing...

Is there an issue with Liturgical worship?

If I came to you with the comment that "liturgy doesn't allow me to connect (even though I might feel different), and you began your answer the way you just did, you would have lost me right there. I know we are protective of our corner of Christology, but how does that attract one to your...

    Liturgy for the non-liturgical

Thanks for the link, that was helpful. I met with the pastor this week, and we had a good talk. That's one of the draws of this particular church so far is that everyone has been very inviting and willing to answer questions. The pastor even ran into VG at the local grocery and recognized her...

Is your idea of faith biblical?

Agreed, but what happens if we rest on our laurels? Faith without works is dead. We are not completely cleansed of our inclination to sin once grace is received. For example, I've been sober for 21 years. But if I were to get drunk this evening, that would set off a chain of events that...

Right. Whether I agree with them or not.

    News on the Mormon front

However, we are talking about the innocence of children, not the acts of the family bringing them for baptism.

    Liturgy for the non-liturgical

Hmm.. some of the more 'procedural' things in the service - i.e. the Pastor, as an ordained minister, forgiving sins as opposed to what I've been used to in the Presbyterian church, where the Pastor would assure the people that we ARE forgiven, after a prayer of confession - not 'forgiving', per...

    Liturgy for the non-liturgical

Like I said, it wasn't in the sense that we might understand it. It was very close to what I knew from the Presbyterian church, and they were not what I would consider contemporary. Hard to explain. But, in due time, I'll go, but there are some concerns I'd like to have explained a bit.

    Liturgy for the non-liturgical

They do use the Lutheran Service Book for the Liturgical service. Everything is laid out in their "order of service", so I wouldn't be lost. They assured me of that

    Liturgy for the non-liturgical

Yesterday was a good introduction to the church for us. We attended the later "contemporary" service, which, in their terms, is closer to what I had experienced in the Presbyterian church - orderly, structured - quite different from what I had in mind when I hear "contemporary" (if that makes...

    Liturgy for the non-liturgical

Thanks for the responses. Lamm - I read the explanation, and that was helpful. Tbh, once it's something I'm familiar with, I'm sure it will make more sense. The very thing that attracted me to it is that it is scriptural, theological, and historical - something I don't necessarily find with...

What type of games would you like to see in the Arcade?

A question about the score rankings - When a player loses the "high score" spot, the first and second place spot go to the same player/same score. Hence, when I lose first place, I'm bumped to third. Strange set-up.

    Liturgy for the non-liturgical

I've had interest for some time in visiting our local Lutheran (LCC) church. My understanding is that the LCC (Lutheran Church of Canada) is much like the LCMS - conservative, liturgical, etc. I agree with many of the views/doctrines held by the LCC, which is what has attracted me to it, and has...
