Oh dear Oh my! Tongues again ...

Being "filled with the Holy Spirit" is not baptism, one is filled as often as God pleases to fill but one is baptised once.

Oh dear Oh my! Tongues again ...

Of course it's what I believe. I wrote it because it is what I believe. But what's more pertinent than that is that it is what Jesus said and what the holy scriptures teach. It is also what the one holy catholic and apostolic church teaches. Some sects reject what is true favouring their own...

Oh dear Oh my! Tongues again ...

Being baptised with water and the spirit is the only spirit baptism there is and it comes with the water of baptism. Saint Paul mentions it to the Corinthians in First Corinthians chapter twelve.

Ask a Christian - Pauline Christianity - a religion of the State?

I think Stravinsk is right in saying that MennoSota did not address the questions raised in the original post.

    The Filioque Clause

Pedrito, the document you cited says In 1995, the PCPCU pointed out an important difference in meaning between the Greek verb ἐκπορεύεσθαι and the Latin verb procedere, both of which are commonly translated as "proceed". It stated that the Greek verb ἐκπορεύεσθαι indicates that the Spirit "takes...

Oh dear Oh my! Tongues again ...

"Shouldaboughtahondabutiboughtakia" does sound fairly similar to examples of people speaking in tongues. It's obviously not somebody claiming to exercise a gift from God. It's not mocking God or gifts from God. It's just pointing out how the practise we hear around us sounds.

    Proof texting

In Greek the passage that says "He will guide you into all truth" has you in the plural so the promise is to the community not to each individual in it. John 16:4-15 But I have said these things to YOU so that when their hour comes YOU may remember that I told YOU about them. 'I did not say...

    the meaning of Baptism

The whole household believed means that the whole household followed papa. That's how households work, except maybe nowadays, where it is every one for themselves rather than working together as a household.

Ask a Christian - Pauline Christianity - a religion of the State?

Saint Paul certainly does advise obedience to the state as far as possible while maintaining a good conscience as a Christian. Saint Thomas Moore is a very instructive example of how such obedience plays out when the state is wicked.

    Snake Handling Churches

There is a great deal of truth to the proposition that nearly everybody is more born into their religion than conscientiously choosing it. Snake handling is generational for the most part. A kind of culture handed down in a community.

    the meaning of Baptism

I saw your point but that is not what is at issue. Your point is yours to make. The point at issue is what does the passage say and mean. Your point is an interpretation common among credobaptists but it is nevertheless not what the passage says nor what it means. Stating that the household...

Isn't it amazing what a contested verse in The Gospel according to Saint Mark can yield in terms of practises and beliefs?
