Why can't the bread & wine be the body & blood of the Lord?

Why would it come with such a stern warning if it were only symbolic? And since 1 Corinthians 11:27 starts off with "So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. " then it most definitely is...

Why can't the bread & wine be the body & blood of the Lord?

The Didache was written anywhere from 65 a.d. to about 85 a.d. gives us a post new testament glimpse of the early church...what it taught, what the disciplines were, organization, etc... It also coincides to what Josiah was saying that the early church fathers believed in the Real Presence. The...

Why can't the bread & wine be the body & blood of the Lord?

This is a tangent to the discussion and doesn't state why the bread and wine couldn't be the true body and blood.

Why can't the bread & wine be the body & blood of the Lord?

This is very important to the discussion. All the early church fathers believed in the Real Presence. Not one suggested anything symbolic. There is a church father who wrote about the Real Presence about 30 years after the death of the disciple John. Surely if communion were symbolic you'd have...

The verse you quoted actually supports the Real Presence.

How many floors is the ark? I mean, are there different levels?

Why can't the bread & wine be the body & blood of the Lord?

Nowhere does it say the bread is the body of believers. It is the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 11:27 "Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord." That verse talks about the body and...

Why can't the bread & wine be the body & blood of the Lord?

You do deny the Real Presence. I was referring to the first Passover. Was it real? Or was it symbolic only?

Why can't the bread & wine be the body & blood of the Lord?

Jesus is God. Think of this. Jesus was in Mary's womb and He was God there. Yet, He was also everywhere else since...He is God. Can God give us His body and blood while standing before us? How could that be an impossibility with God? He created the world from nothing.

Why can't the bread & wine be the body & blood of the Lord?

MoreCoffee has given a great response. Your questions are all law-based and Holy Communion is Gospel based...that it is, it isn't focused on US in order for it to be true. God is the one who makes it true. His words are This is my body. The who, what, when, where, why, how questions are all Greek...

Why can't the bread & wine be the body & blood of the Lord?

Was the Passover symbolic? I didn't find your answer to that. Could the ark really have held all the animals? Yes. Could a virgin really get pregnant without having sex? Yes. Could Jesus turn water into wine? Yes. Could the bread and wine be the true body and blood? Yes. Why do you believe...

When are we going to get self-cleaning drains?

I'm all for that!! Do you have trees in the area where the plumbing goes out to? At one of our houses we had issues every few months. The next house wasn't quite as bad. Now we have a house without big trees in the yard and it's great!

Why can't the bread & wine be the body & blood of the Lord?

Then are you thinking of it now since I brought it to your attention that Jesus body is also considered the body of Christ?

Why can't the bread & wine be the body & blood of the Lord?

It's so easy for you to believe that all the animals fit on the ark (male/female) but not that Jesus could be present in Communion?

Why can't the bread & wine be the body & blood of the Lord?

If you receive His body in communion you will also be strengthening your faith...since it's His body and He is the Word. But your faith isn't strengthened BECAUSE you partake. It's because it IS His body and He feeds us.

Why can't the bread & wine be the body & blood of the Lord?

Don't be so quick to exclude Christ's body from being the body of Christ as well.
