It's a holiday weekend here in the US, Jo so a lot of people have Monday off and will enjoy the 3 day weekend. My husband needs a hobby or he's going to be very bored!
It's so humid out but I worked in getting weeds out of my garden. I still haven't planted because we're expecting more rain and I don't want the seeds to wash away. All I have are my 3 tomato plants out there now.
Yes, it was Paul stating the Law. He knew the difference between Law and Gospel very well as we can see in his letters. The Law will always accuse us. That's what your post is doing. It accuses. The Gospel will not accuse but bring comfort that we have a Savior. Our security is not in what we do...
Yes, that passage was written for me. It was written for all humankind and inspired by God so that we can believe in the Savior. If you don't believe in that passage then why are you believing the one passage about doing works? Why are you believing any of it?
1 John 5:11-13
And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have...
Yes, the Law tells us we can fall away...but look further into the next sentence of that very piece you chose to use and that is where we find comfort...
1 Corinthians 10:13
And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also...
That's Gospel talk!
That's Law & Gospel talk!
That's Gospel Talk!
That's Law Talk! For those in despair because of the Law they can remember that Jesus said He would be with us always and to remember that our sins are forgiven! Because that's Gospel talk!
That's Law talk!
That's Law...
Ephesians 1:13-14
And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s...
I absolutely understand what you're attempting to say. Hear this, Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. I have received the revelation of the Savior by God's Word. He has not failed me and I am confident that I will have eternal life with Him.
Personal assurance of God's mercy and grace is guaranteed because ...God is merciful and gracious. Oh and loving. For God so loved the world and all that.
We don't look to ourselves to be assured that GOD has done something. We look to God.
Do you have yearly inspections and emissions testing? We do and I don't like having to pay that money each year. Where I used to live we only had emissions testing and it was free.
There is an objective truth and a subjective truth. The subjective isn't true unless the objective is...so the objective truth is that Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins.
What do you mean God's mercy and grace is not guaranteed? Didn't Jesus die for you? That was already done before you were born. Believe that your sins were forgiven at the cross!
I wouldn't have trusted in the Savior if it weren't for God revealing Him to me. So, whether you think the verse applies to me or not, I have a Savior. Paul had confidence in the Savior and not himself or his works. It's not wrong to be the same way.
Romans 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
It's interesting but also makes very much sense. God has emotions just like us so He's relatable. God's emotions are not sinful so He doesn't need to "repent" or turn to Himself, for He is already perfect.
