    I agree with you. What I disagreed with is that even though objectively Jesus died to free us, it isn't given to us personally until God appropriates it to us by faith. That's the subjective part.

    You agree that free gifts are not earned. You also state that you have been given the Orthodox answers but my friend George who is Orthodox doesn't always agree with how you're answering because your answers become too works righteousness...meaning the gift is not free to you if you have to earn it.

    The gift of salvation is free. The gift of repentance is by grace. That means it is freely given by God by His grace. The gift of faith is by grace. Again, freely given by God by His grace for our salvation. We don't work for our salvation. That's how it is free to us.

    Keep reading the rest of that section of Ephesians. It talks of by grace through faith Ephesians 2:8. If you're going to not read the entire section then you'll get a false sense of what it is saying.

    No, God does not take back. Scripture warns us we can fall from faith and that is our own doing (1 Corinthians 10:12 is one such verse and there are more).

    When I say the will is bound to sin, what does that mean to you? That is the way that man remains by rejecting the Savior or not having faith. He remains bound to sin since he has no faith to believe in the freedom the cross provides. That's not a will that has been freed. Does that clear it up...

    The will is bound to sin. That is not free will. You keep confusing that matter. Scriptures state that man can turn from God. You deny that.

    Ignorance has no faith. Calvinists even believe that faith needs to be given by God or they cannot have eternal life with Him. Without faith the pardon is not given to them at their deaths. So they go to hell not receiving what Jesus earned.

    A King grants a pardon to all the prisoners as a free gift. They are in essence "free" now but they don't know it until someone tells them they are free. What do they need to do to free themselves? The King has already freed them. Walking out of the jail did not free them. The King's pardon...

    Where did you hear "puppets" from? It sounds like something you heard from one of your pastors? I don't believe we're "puppets" and have never expressed that here on CH so why would you state it? God gives us faith to believe. The unsaved cannot save himself. He cannot choose to make himself...

But there are many more verses to back up that the will is not free to choose...and it has to do with the verses that state natural man is an enemy of God until God turns Him to Himself. The Gospel is foolishness to man until faith...
