    Just a note as well only roughly a QUARTER of American youth ( male and female) of draft age qualify for military service without a waiver.

    Yes, but in addition back in Vietnam the training was shorter. Today BASIC runs between 8.5 and 12 weeks and then advanced training runs from a few weeks all the way up to more than a year.     I know for a fact that Islam is very works-based that is to say that good deeds determine who goes to Heaven, but from my understanding a Muslim has no way of knowing whether his or her deeds are "good" enough until death.

    yes, question is do the recruiters play it up too much? Do they only tell the "good" parts of the military? Are they ethical in seeking recruits? I can go somewhere on my own free will that does not mean that a person is going to be honest with me when I get there.
