    Well said. Even our repentance isn't what earned forgiveness given when we repent...it all comes from the cross where Jesus died so grace and forgiveness are unlimited.

    I wanted this forum because I needed a new home forum and wanted good conversation and internet friends. I was convinced that this was what God wanted me to have built. Some days it seems like that goal was achieved and other days it feels very vacant and I don't know if God still has a purpose...

    The answer lies in the way that people define "sin" and in doing so, some have reduced it significantly so that it doesn't encompass all of that which the bible tells us. Then they start to think that they can lead sinless lives.

    I wouldn't mind sharing a couple of fries but a bite taken out of my food is theft. For the fries I give a 1 on the scale. For the bite out of food it's about a 9.

    He's not being obtuse. He's giving you a biblically correct response in that the Holy Spirit dwells within the believer and guides that person to repent daily of his sins. You asked about those who sin...and he's responding to you.

    Lutherans don't "go to the altar" to get saved. That's decision theology. You believe salvation means you will have eternal life with God and yet you then qualified in your quoted post above that the person has to do something for that salvation instead of "by grace through faith in Jesus".
