Is there something from scripture that makes you uncomfortable?

For me, I always hated the part in the Old Testament where the bear mauled the children but that's because I didn't understand God's plan in setting aside His people for the line of the Savior. 2 Kings 2:24 When he looked behind him and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two...

Heaven. It's not the final destination.

Revelation 21:1-2 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Do you consider heaven and the New...

Do they have to believe as you

Do you feel that people have to believe the same as you to have salvation? What are your minimal requirements for you to consider someone a Christian? What sends them to hell? I ask because I see a lot of different beliefs being preached on this site.

    What is sin?

There seem to be differing viewpoints on this site of what sin is, so let's discuss.

    Differences between sinful cities

I was thinking about in the Old Testament how Sodom & Gomorrah were destroyed. They wouldn't repent from their sin. The New Testament gives some hope because Paul went to Corinth which was really awful and we don't see them being destroyed, so they must have repented some? Let's discuss?

    Is there significance in this?

Something that I was pondering this morning. Adam was created and was man but Jesus, the New Adam who is to save us was actually born. Is there significance in this?

Do you believe God works through means?

As a Lutheran, I believe and see evidence in both the Old and New Testaments that God works through earthly means and attaches His Word to those means. Where I see people talking about obedience, I see instead God at work because He made a promise and man can't take the credit for God's work...

St. Nicholas - Little Known Facts

St. Nicholas is a well known saint. Did you know that this Santa Claus had a hand in writing the Nicene Creed? Do you know that he punched a guy who was promoting heresy while discussing the creed? At least, that's how the legend goes.

Is your idea of faith biblical?

I'm curious about the scriptural back up of what people consider faith to be? How we get it and then what?

Why did Paul rebuke Peter but not James?

To Peter: Gal. 2:14, ESV "But when I saw that their conduct was not in step with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all, 'If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?'” To James: Acts 15:20, ESV "but should...

    Should Christians play Santa?

Can Santa and Jesus co-exist during the holidays? Or should we only promote Jesus and not the fake Santa Claus with all his magical powers?

The mistake of preaching only happiness

During the sermon today at church, the pastor boldly stated how he hated that today's American Evangelicals preach only happiness...happiness when you find your purpose, happiness when you find your direction. But, he loves the churches who celebrate All Saints Day because it forces us to look...

    Preaching a false hope

No, this isn't about the cross or forgiveness. I've seen memes on Facebook that state this, I know there are books that use it as the moral of the story and I hear people state it all the time: "We are safe because God is with us." The problem with such a theology is that God won't let bad...

    Paul Chief of Sinners

1 Timothy 1:15King James Version (KJV) 15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. This is a tangent from the Once Saved Always Saved thread to discuss Christians still being sinners while being...

    Women's Role in the Church

I do not believe that women should be pastors because of how God purposely set us apart as man and woman and used the connection of Bride and Groom specifically. There are other such references as well but I am going in a different direction with this. What roles in the Church life do you...

http://revjeffhood.com/the-vagina-of-jesus/ So the blog above, for those who don't like to click on links, refers to Genesis 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. This Baptist minister believes that the verse is stating...

    Office of the Keys

The Office of the Keys is what Christ gave to the church to be used by the Servants of the Word (Mt 16:19; 18:15–20; Jn 20:22–23; Rv 1:18). Let's discuss this. It's not a new forgiveness but is connected to the cross.
