In what ways does the Apocrypha point to Jesus as Savior?

I think the “canon” idea was made up by the Jews just to discredit the New Testament. It’s just a way of drawing a line in the sand and saying “scripture stops at Ezra” and therefore, “don’t add those gospels to the scriptures.”

In what ways does the Apocrypha point to Jesus as Savior?

Those books don’t belong in the Bible. Josephus says so.

    The RCC Claim

I think that the church as a whole was established by Christ. But the churches have backslidden in several ways throughout the years. And in 1500 years you can have a LOT of backsliding! So, no, I don’t think that the “Catholic” church today is something Christ himself established. I think that...

In what ways does the Apocrypha point to Jesus as Savior?

They say 2 Maccabees 12 mentions purgatory. But the word “purgatory” is never even mentioned. And when you look at what it’s saying, I don’t think it’s even promoting the idea of purgatory.

In what ways does the Apocrypha point to Jesus as Savior?

How long were the Israelites in Egypt?

That’s actually kind of what I’m studying right now. I just learned recently that Daniel 8 and 11 prophesy about the events in Maccabees. But yea, I’d really love to learn how to understand the 70 weeks in Daniel, and really get a firm grip on them. I’d need to actually understand it first...

How long were the Israelites in Egypt?

When it comes to other inconsistencies in the Greek Septuagint or the Samaritan Pentateuch, those can be dealt with on an individual basis. But when it comes to this one individual issue in regards to the Israelites’ sojourn in Egypt, Paul is agreeing with the Septuagint. Why?

How long were the Israelites in Egypt?

Paul says in Galatians 3:17 that the 430 years starts with Abraham receiving the promise, and ends with Moses receiving the law. Abraham received the promise when he entered the land of Canaan. Moses received the law when they left the land of Egypt. Paul is saying 430 years in Egypt and...

In what ways does the Apocrypha point to Jesus as Savior?

It’s very prophetic. It’s no wonder the Jews wanted to take it out. And to think, Clement, who knew Paul personally, who Paul even mentions by name in Phillipians 4:3, Clement quotes from Wisdom as scripture in his letter to the Corinthians. The most likely reason Clement accepted it as...

In what ways does the Apocrypha point to Jesus as Savior?

“The Jews and their priests have resolved that Simon should be their leader and high priest forever, until a trustworthy prophet should arise.” -1 Maccabees 14:41 - Bible Gateway passage: 1 Maccabees 14:41 - Common English Bible This verse is pretty significant. Why? Until a trustworthy...
