    God hates certain people.

Hate in that context meant "thorn seed", a thorny seed is avoided, Esau rejected his own birthright for temporary pleasure and forsook his blessing which also pained his father Issac. Although Jacob fooled his father he still received the blessing and set off to do what God had planned of him...

    Excerpts from Enoch

If Enoch was written before Genesis (which if so, makes perfect sense) then the books of Moses simply remains silent on many details (considering the book of Enoch is authentic)... Did Noah build the ark all by himself without a helping hand? Just throwing that out there

    Excerpts from Enoch

Well we are all hardly familiar with the ante deluge old world. Academia can scoff at the idea of a speaking serpent while accepting "terrible lizards" that turned into little birds and a mysterious "missing link" ;)

    Excerpts from Enoch

Jude quoted the person Enoch, how so if it was never written down and how were those reading Jude supposed to verify the quote? Oral tradition? Why not just quote Deuteronomy?

    Excerpts from Enoch

As I stated in the other thread, I cant speak for everything stated in the book of Enoch. The version we have to today has notable contradictions however Jude quotes Enoch which indeed is a fact unless Jude is lying.

What do you think about Jude quoting Enoch?

Glad you agree its prophetic and Jude is quoting Enoch, not Deuteronomy, thus it's prophetic scripture

What do you think about Jude quoting Enoch?

I can't speak for the entire book of Enoch but the majority text is described as being apocalyptic from early on, well before the 1700s. The question remains, did Jude quote the prophecy of Enoch from divine scripture or from uninspired non prophetic writings?

What do you think about Jude quoting Enoch?

You compare it to Dante's Inferno so I assume you read them both, I find that a bit ironic since these two books in which you have read so thoroughly as to make it your point, you find such hatred for.

What do you think about Jude quoting Enoch?

How was I suppose to know what you meant? Your question was about an edge of a sword, since my reply I have gathered more clues.. A Hebrew word for "swords edge" that is also the name of one of first 10 descendents of Seth. Okay I give up. Who's name means 'edge of a sword' and how does it...

What do you think about Jude quoting Enoch?

I believe that the further we go back in biblical history the more keen our ability to store and recite information received orally was. Lossless is certainly found in the NT when certain details differ between the four Gospels. The disciples were never instructed to write anything down and...

What do you think about Jude quoting Enoch?

As for Jude, keep in mind that aside from the Torah, no official "canon" existed in Judaism nor Christianity at this time. Jewish OT Scripture differed depending on the Jewish sect, at the advent of Christianity the Jews asserted their universal canon, Christianity has only settled a universal...

What do you think about Jude quoting Enoch?

[Irenaeus has entered the discussion] Abraham himself, without circumcision and without observance of Sabbaths, believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness; and he was called the friend of God. (James 2:23) Then, again, Lot, without circumcision, was brought out from Sodom...

What do you think about Jude quoting Enoch?

[Terullian has entered the discussion] I am aware that the Scripture of Enoch, which has assigned this order (of action) to angels, is not received by some, because it is not admitted into the Jewish canon either. I suppose they did not think that, having been published before the deluge, it...

What do you think about Jude quoting Enoch?

Yair is a Hebrew name. Pronounced ya-EAR, it is a Hebrew verb meaning "he will light" or "he will enlighten". It appears both in ancient Jewish sources and as a familiar name in contemporary Israel. In Scriptural and archaic form, it may appear as Jair or Ya'ir. Par-glonsen is the technical...
