Did the Catholics make up the book of 1 Maccabees out of their imagination?

It’s probably best to leave that Catholic-invented, fan-fiction out of the Bible. Because zero Christians in the early church accepted those books as scripture. Not even one of them!

Did the Catholics make up the book of 1 Maccabees out of their imagination?

Yup. It’s all absurd, because it’s all fiction

If the apocrypha doesn’t belong in the Bible, then please explain why Clement of Rome said that Judith is scripture in his letter to the Corinthians?

I already said who “they” are. But you didn’t listen the first dozen times I said it.

If the apocrypha doesn’t belong in the Bible, then please explain why Clement of Rome said that Judith is scripture in his letter to the Corinthians?

They said which books they accepted in their church councils. I’ve already listed what those councils were multiple times on this forum. I’m surprised I’m being asked again.

Did the Catholics make up the book of 1 Maccabees out of their imagination?

After all, the New Testament never mentions anything in the apocrypha. So the Catholics must have made it up.

If the apocrypha doesn’t belong in the Bible, then please explain why Clement of Rome said that Judith is scripture in his letter to the Corinthians?

Can you give an explanation as to why these early Christians accepted these books as scripture?

If the apocrypha doesn’t belong in the Bible, then please explain why Clement of Rome said that Judith is scripture in his letter to the Corinthians?

Here’s the reference. So much for unverified rumors and personal opinions. Tertullian - “Against Heresies” Chapter 32: “None of the Heretics Claim Succession from the Apostles. New Churches Still Apostolic, Because Their Faith is that Which the Apostles Taught and Handed Down. The Heretics...

If the apocrypha doesn’t belong in the Bible, then please explain why Clement of Rome said that Judith is scripture in his letter to the Corinthians?

Tertullian said that the church in Rome told him that. But I guess people who lived in history don’t know anything about history because atpollard said so.

If the apocrypha doesn’t belong in the Bible, then please explain why Clement of Rome said that Judith is scripture in his letter to the Corinthians?

I love how the church in Rome doesn’t even know their own recent history now because atpollard said so.

If the apocrypha doesn’t belong in the Bible, then please explain why Clement of Rome said that Judith is scripture in his letter to the Corinthians?

I know that Tertullian said that the Roman Church believed that Clement was ordained by Peter. So, yes, there were people back then who made that claim. So, if Peter ordained Clement, and Peter did not consider Judith to be scripture, it’s quite odd that Peter ordained someone who thought...

If the apocrypha doesn’t belong in the Bible, then please explain why Clement of Rome said that Judith is scripture in his letter to the Corinthians?

So you admit that you can’t prove the claim that you made, that Clement never spoke with Paul or Peter. That’s what I thought.

If the apocrypha doesn’t belong in the Bible, then please explain why Clement of Rome said that Judith is scripture in his letter to the Corinthians?

Clement’s letter to the Corinthians: “Ye understand, beloved, ye understand well the Sacred Scriptures, and ye have looked very earnestly into the oracles of God. Call then these things to your remembrance. When Moses went up into the mount...” He goes into an example about Moses. Then he says...

If the apocrypha doesn’t belong in the Bible, then please explain why Clement of Rome said that Judith is scripture in his letter to the Corinthians?

If you read it in context, he mentions Moses, Judith, and Esther, and makes it clear that he’s giving examples found in scripture. Don’t just pull out the one single verse where Judith is mentioned. Read it in context.

If the apocrypha doesn’t belong in the Bible, then please explain why Clement of Rome said that Judith is scripture in his letter to the Corinthians?

Clement says in his letter of 1 Clement that he lived the same time as the apostles. But he never claimed to have never spoken to them. But you claim he never spoke to them. How do you know that?
