I happen to like the crab cakes. My little corner of Northern Virginia's not that far away from the Chesapeake Bay, so we have some decent seafood. I mentioned that I love driving out to the mountains and I like the history those hills contain. I like the scenery you get out of driving Skyline...
It's home. That's what I love about my country. I have my roots and a heritage here that goes back for three to four hundred years. I love the gently changing seasons, the brilliant colors of autumn and the velvet green of the land when it's summer. I love the mountains, the beaches and the...
It looks like all bets are off. Rajoy has decided to impose Article 155 on Catalonia, which means that " any means necessary" will be used to restore Spanish rule in Catalonia...
This might help answer some questions as to why Catalonia wants independence.. http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/872069/Catalonia-why-want-independence-secede-from-Spain-Madrid-Barcelona.
That might be a good idea, but I'm not entirely sure that the government in Madrid cares too much about dialogue at this point: https://www.telesurtv.net/english/news/Catalonia-Rajoy-Rejects-Dialogue-Opts-for-Article-155-20171025-0005.html. It looks like Madrid's doing a bunch of saber rattling...
Awesome Star Trek reference! Unfortunately, it's a very succinct summary of the attitude that was held by the British from the early seventeenth to the early twentieth centuries. All for the Old Empire.
Catalonia declared independence from Spain on Friday and the Spanish government isn't having it. The Spanish PM, Mariano Rajoy, has fired Carles Puigdemont, Catalonia's president and has effectively disbanded the formerly semi- autonomous region's government. The international response has been...
Purgatory.
Catechismus Romanus, I, vi, 3: “Besides [hell] there is a purging fire, by which the souls of the pious, tormented for a set time, are purified, so that they might enter the eternal fatherland, into which nothing defiled enters.” Canons and Decrees of the Council of Trent, Sess. XXV...
Ah, yes. A dapper gentleman from another forum opined more than once that Anglicans are indeed a motley crew.

I've decided to take an interest in it. If a people want to strike out on their own, they should be given rein to do so. I'd support Scottish independence, too. Small peoples shouldn't be assimilated into a neighboring society just because that society's bigger than theirs.
I read about Catalonia's declaration of independence from Spain, Scotland's support of it and the rest of Europe ( not least Spain itself) getting bent out of shape because of it.
Indeed. Well, don't certain groups, such as the Anglicans, Catholics and Greek Orthodox support the idea of Purgatory? I wonder what their respective thoughts would be on the subject?
We have no name for your Purgatory because we see that as a papal innovation that led to other moneymaking innovations utterly without a Biblical basis. There's no evidence that " Purgatory" actually exists.
Reformation 500!!

Yes!! Too absolutely right! In Jesus Christ alone do we find forgiveness! Ephesians 2:8- 9 states the case rather well. We have nothing to do with our own salvation. The Lord did all the work, He still does all the work. It's all http://www.theopedia.com/monergism. God has done it all and He...
That isn't what I mean at all, MC. Of course we walk in the Law, in it's Third Use, we have the law as our standard by which we live God- pleasing lives.
