Am I official, or is my chat official now that it is here in this thread?
By the way, why is my rep power so low when I post so much! Is it because nobody loves me and everybody hates me! I think I'll go and eat worms!
;)
It certainly was a fake in the case of the video but the faker was (at the time, he is dead now) a very influential preacher and teacher and many regard him as the founder of the Word of Faith movement, his name is Kenneth Hagan. I doubt any video of fakes can prove that real tongues does not...
It's more like 50 sizes fit 50 and it is a minimum not an average, but for all that, even if it were just one minimum wage for the whole USA $15/hour is still quite low pay. Even in a country town with low rent and low costs for most things $600/week is a low wage in 2015.
By the way, is...
I have bountiful experience with the state and federal governments in Australia and I know how they work and how slowly the wheels grind at times but for all that it is big and cumbersome yet productive in ways that many private industries are not. So if gun control were to be legislated in each...
Yes, and they do most of the work for the committees of politicians and judges and tribunals to mull over before making a decision. It really is a massively multiperson decision making and enforcement machine.
If a mom & pop run a business so poorly that paying their employees $15/hour (that's $600/week approximately) and they were paying them only $7/hour ($280 per week) then their business is really really crappy and they are exploiting their employees, even if they are family members ...
If Mom &...
I disagree, USA government has hundreds of thousands of employees so when one set discuss gun control other sets discuss the economy, medical needs, charity, foreign aid, and so forth. Nothing stops because one group talks about gun control. In fact it is likely that a gun control group has...
No, I rather like contango :)
I do not fear disagreement. And fierce disputing doesn't mean fierce dislike.
Besides, a $15/hour minimum wage for USA states isn't going to bust anybody's bank.
If a business can't pay $15/hour to the hired help then maybe they will have to do without hired...
As much time as one court, one advisory council, and one or two hearings need.
Remember that there are many courts, many advisors, and many hearings.
Gun control was enacted in Australia without government grinding to a halt.
I beat you to it. Have a look in the Catholicism subforum here.

Government is not an individual it is a large body of people and as such it can do many things at the same time. Gun control is just one of many things that it can deal with without losing focus on other matters that are important.

MORNING
Whom the Lord loveth he correcteth. Prov. 3:12
See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand. Deut. 32:39
I know the thoughts that I think toward...
I would like almost nothing better than for the folk who tell me what I allegedly believe to take the time and trouble to read what the Catholic Church teaches rather than ransacking Catholic documents for "juicy quotes" to throw around as proofs of how wicked Catholicism is. And yes, I do get...
Now you're talking about services rather than goods. The two are quite different. Besides, the service in a NY City restaurant is very likely different in quality from the service in a country town. I imagine the quality of the food differs significantly too and the cost of high quality meat...
Stick around and read some of the posts about Catholic beliefs and you will see that some, perhaps many, here think very differently from you on the matter of the Catholic Church.
It addresses the thin-end-of-the-wedge argument present in your post. Your reply vitiates your previous argument insofar as your current comment indicates that curtailing a freedom in one area of life does not mean that other areas will also be curtailed and each move to reduce freedoms will be...
The law makers, obviously. Probably after consultation with law enforcement and judicial authorities as well as consultation with interested parties in society (gun clubs, farmers, hobby shootists and such).
Whatever the root causes of mass killings in the USA may be it is clear that the same causes (if they exist in Europe) do not have the same effect in Europe. Something is different. In Australia once the laws were passed to restrict gun ownership uniformly across the whole nation (each state...
