    TOBIT -by NathanH83

Of course it does, the grammar and whatever else is used as evidence suggests that Moses had absolutely nothing to do with the Pentateuch. Isaiah had nothing to do with the book bearing his name, and Daniel was a mythical character in an ancient Hebrew novel.

    TOBIT -by NathanH83

It's interesting how easily the historical critical method of analysing holy scripture is applied by Protestants to a book like Tobit but rejected by Evangelical for each and every one of the books that Protestants say are canonical. Tobit could just as easily be a work written in cuneiform...

    A simple question

Dear friend, my faith is not IN the gospel it is in Jesus Christ. The gospel is good news about Jesus Christ but I do not love, believe, and trust the good news it is the one about which the gospel tells that I believe, love, and trust.

    A simple question

No, faith is believing and apparently trusting too but many people who believe and trust fear. Jesus feared in the garden of Gethsemane. If God incarnate feared who can expect people not to?

Universal basic income & the robot revolution.

There are people who make a living out of predicting trends in technology and possible (they might say likely or highly probable) changes in society and culture that will be the result of new technologies when they are introduced. Some get called "futurologists". I've heard some of them as they...

    Some Reagan Wisdom

Ronald Regan was not so wise. His time in office saw the disastrous Savings & Loan collapse which plunged USA national and state budgets into serious deficits with a lasting national debt in the hundreds of billions and from which the nation has not recovered yet. And now with Donald Trump at...

Psychology and related fields can shed light on opinions including theological opinions. Logic and history too can shed light on data in holy scripture.

    I witnessed today...

A very distressing event and a sad story. I visited my brother today to see his poodle, now 16 years old and mostly blind, partly deaf, and maybe a little senile but still happy with human attention and affection. It will upset my brother and me when she dies, but to loose a puppy is very...

This post is just for information. So don't rely to it please. It contains the sections from the Catechism of the Catholic Church mentioned by Josiah in his post. The Magisterium of the Church 85 "The task of giving an authentic interpretation of the Word of God, whether in its written form or...

    What do you think?

It might be useful to apply scientific method to theology, but how does one test a doctrine by observation of predicted experimental outcomes?

    What do you think?

Interesting replies. Is it possible to accept that there are errors in holy scripture and at the same time believe in God, do you think?

    What do you think?

That is one view, yes; perhaps it is what Martin Luther was thinking but the errors in the holy scriptures are human errors too being the result of the human beings who wrote the holy scriptures.

    Shunning

If the alleged "wolf/dog/sorcerer" is one's son, daughter, brother, sister, mother, or father what then? And what does it mean to be a wolf, a dog, or a sorcerer?

    What do you think?

Martin Luther seeks a solution in the alleged faults of humankind; in short we get it wrong and the holy scriptures are right. Such is one approach; is it a safe and secure one when you discuss the matter with an atheist or a Christian who has awakened for the first time to the errors...

    What do you think?

I agree, the last two minutes (more or less) are pleading for "mystery" and "faith" as an alleged solution to errors, inconsistencies, and contradiction that exist in the holy scriptures. But I will grant him praise for recognising that the holy scriptures do not fit the Chicago Statement on...

    What do you think?

Watch it or don't. Think about it or not. Accept it or reject it. The bible gets to people. And people get to the bible.
