Yeah, but @Josiah, what about this, below, from the LCMS Q & A site?
<<<<<< QUESTION: What is The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod’s position regarding the age of the earth? Must we accept literally the creation account that points in the direction of a relatively young earth, given the amount of...
Wrong. Talked to my pastor for a long time today in email and the help from him plus what I got here from Josiah helped me, a lot. Now it’s all good. I plan on staying put.
IOW, you agree that this 6,000 year old thing isnt part of the churches we’re talking about here and I shouldnt let this obsession of mine influence my decision?
I want to be part of a church community, a vibrant one. I’ve been trying to talk to people more, saying more than the obligatory “hi, how are you doing?” I have a lot of anxiety and it can be hard for me to converse with people I don’t know well, in person.
Yeah, my friend goes there and from the way she talks, in time, the church will be no more. Which I don’t get since they’re such a big denomination in the USA
I don’t think we have Confirmation at our church anymore. They have what’s called The Rooted Experience, now just called “Rooted” and then after something like 10 weeks there’s a dinner and a thing in the church where we’re introduced. We might’ve had to answer some questions or recite something...
The only ELCA in town that I’m aware of is too far away from here for me to drive and is dwindling, They went from being a pretty vibrant church to losing their preschool and now they’re down to one service on Sunday.
The people at the convention a few years ago made it sound that way to me…..though Josiah once already posted that really, it was just their opinion s. It binding.
Ok dumb question alert but what are “Lutheran teachings on Justification?” and about the other things, purgatory, Mary, the Pope etc. I havent given all that much thought. Yet.
That’s pretty much what my pastors say at the LCMS church. Catholics say it’s the Holy Spirit but that it can only be done by a validly ordained priest.
It’s so confusing because the LCMS says one thing, Catholics say another, but Communion isn’t my biggest problem. The biggest problem goes back...
Yes, but what about the dating of the earth? I read credible scientific articles that said creationists make it sound as if the dating method (s) is faulty when in reality they have many different dating methods, all pointing to an old earth.
Creationists use the Grand Canyons bent layers of...
I guess what bothers me a lot, too, is that in doing online research, all I get is old earth commentary, articles etc. unless it’s from questionable creationist sites like Answers In Genesis, rather than scientists.
