    Praying in public

We had a waitress smile at us and she was nice enough to give us time to finish before approaching our table. I think that's the closest I've ever had of anyone coming over to us but no one has asked. Do you see a lot of people praying in public? I rarely do.

    Prophets...how long?

Well, today they don't get put to death because in Deuteronomy God gave those laws to the Israelites and we are not under those laws but instead grace. In the New Testament we ARE warned about false prophets and told to test them against scripture.

    Universal Atonement - Part 2

I don't believe in decision theology because of John 15:16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.

    Universal Atonement - Part 2

God desires that all sinners to be saved (He doesn't say they will be) 2 Peter 3:9. If His atonement, as you say, was only for some, God is a liar because then He didn't truly desire for all to be saved. His plan of salvation covered the world since the entire world fell into it. To those who...

    Universal Atonement - Part 2

Universal Atonement As a Lutheran I believe in Universal atonement (yet not universalism). Behold the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. How do those who believe in limited atonement get around that? Is it finished as Jesus said or is it not?

    Universal Atonement

Let's return to Genesis. Because of man, the whole world fell into sin. Because of one man (Jesus the Christ) the atonement was made for sin. God is loving and of course includes all in His death and forgiveness. To say not all changes God's love for the world John 3:16 and His character.

Military Recruiting in high schools in the US

I'm not saying men shouldn't join. What I meant in my initial post was how the recruiters make it sound as if it's such a wonderful experience and how glorious it is yet once they enlist, it's not all that dreamy experience they were sold on.

    Universal Atonement

Not at all. Scripture states that both are true. So they are. Christ died for the whole world 1 John 2:2 (take note of the word "whole" there), 2 Cor. 5:15, 1 Peter 3:18, 1 Timothy 2:6 Not everyone will benefit from His death on the cross. Those who believe will have eternal life. John 3:15...

    Universal Atonement

Yes. Paradoxes exist from the beginning. Both are true and God constantly has proclaimed them to us side by side. Is Jesus 100% man? or 100% God? He's both. Paradoxes. They are throughout the bible.

Military Recruiting in high schools in the US

Yes, I know we need men to sign up for the military and protect our country and I greatly appreciate their services and the mourn the lives lost. I'm concerned about the practice of the recruiting in the high schools and how they make it sound so wonderful and glorious! Then they get shipped...

    Terminal illness and ending life

Should people with a terminal illness have the choice to end their own lives? As a Christian I say no since that should be up to God. But I've seen some people suffering horribly and in the back of my mind I wonder if it would have been better for them to have that choice?

    Is eating meat ethical?

I have some vegetarian and vegan friends and they don't view eating meat as being ethical. I used to not eat very much meat growing up and didn't feel very healthy until I included more into my diet (yay for bacon). There was a movie that I had to show to the kids when I subbed about meat and...

    The Lord's Prayer

I have heard that some churches do not say the Lord's Prayer in their services and I'm wondering why that is? The Lord has given us the most perfect prayer! Going through line by line you can apply it to your day to day living and it becomes more meaningful to you without it being pure recitation.

    Praying in public

When you are out, with say your family, do you pray in public out loud? Or do you maybe bow your heads and silently give thanks for the food you are about to eat? Does it bother you if others do those things? For me, I might pray privately and I doubt anyone would notice. I have prayed with...
