    Is there anything "magical" to use your term, about invoking the Trinity? Every baptism I've attended or have been a part of, the recipient was baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

    I don't know how we could ever know for certain the answer to that question. We could look at their fruits or deeds and judge that way. But without being able to see what is in their heart, there's no way to say for certain if they are saved or not.

    Who is Jesus speaking to in those Scriptures? Unbelievers? Or believers? And why would words written in a book prompt anyone to do anything? The person reading them would have to be certain they are true. Who reveals the truth to us? The Holy Spirit does, the teacher sent by Jesus to us.

    We can know if Jesus is speaking the things of God or not by going to the writings that testify about God, the Scriptures. In Jesus' day they weren't all compiled into a nice book like we have now, but the people knew them. Notice the words Jesus is using, they are words that make what He says...
