OT & NT Correlation of offerings

I'm reading this article No. 25: The Theology of the Drink Offering and am enjoying some of the correlations the author puts together for OT and NT. Second, it should be noted that, even when the people of Israel entered into a conquered the land, it was only God who was given the wine of the...

Is the anointing that those claim to receive today symbolic only?

    God's creation of the church

Luther believed that God first established His church in Genesis. First by giving Adam the word of God by saying that he shouldn't eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. He also pointed out that God rested on the 7th day after His work was done and that man is to worship on the...

    The power of death

Does Satan truly have the power of death? Hebrews 2:14 "Therefore, since the children share in [a]flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil.."

Should women be forced to experience pain in childbirth?

In Genesis 3:16 God said, ""I will greatly multiply Your pain in childbirth, In pain you will bring forth children;" Some people in the 19th century believed that women should not have pain relief during childbirth because of the above verse!

Changes from OT to NT and beyond

We know that when Christ died and was resurrected that there were changes that happened. People no longer had to do some of the these they were commanded in the Old Testament now that the Savior fulfilled the prophecy. What things can you think of that stopped/changed such as the sacrifices?

Treatment of women in the bible

Do you think that the bible tries to make women appear inferior? Are they ever treated as equals?

    Dominion

In Genesis 1:28 God gave man dominion over the animals, fishes and birds. I've heard arguments about what people think this means (especially from vegetarians/vegans). So what is dominion?

    Who were the outsiders?

In Exodus 12 scriptures tell us of the Passover and the rules for it. Concerning Exodus 12:48-49 “Suppose an outsider living among you wants to celebrate the Lord’s Passover. Then all the males in that home must be circumcised. After that, the person can take part, just like an Israelite...

Jesus did not say the word "grace"

I was reading earlier about things not mentioned in the bible and one site made a point of stating that Jesus never said the word "grace" in the scriptures. My thoughts immediately were, so what? Does that change salvation which is by God's grace through faith? Reading on, it seemed that some...

    Open Minds

As Christians should we have an open mind? In church we want to receive God's Word so having an open mind there is a good thing. But we are told to watch out for false doctrine so having an open mind might allow bad theology to seep in. What do you think?

    Hardships in the Bible

Prosperity teachers want people to believe that those of faith will become wealthy and have no burdens as if that's God's will for all believers. What examples from the bible do you find that believers suffered hardships and weren't wealthy or prospered? Endure suffering along with me, as a...

When people doubt that the Holy Spirit is at work

The Holy Spirit guides us into truth and guides us into producing fruit and doing works He has planned for us. Our sinful nature gets in the way. I see people complain a lot about other Christians trying to judge if they're truly Christian because THEY don't see them doing good works or...

    He was a good man

Sometimes when someone dies we might hear "He was a good man. He will be in heaven." Do a lot of people believe in this? That they get to heaven by being good?

The workings of the Holy Spirit

It's nice that Christians affirm that they have the Holy Spirit within them. Do they realize how He is a part of their lives though and not just good feeling? The Holy Spirit is God. He's always been God and always will be God. The Holy Spirit uses God's Word, He uses it to give us the Law...

Jesus is 100% God and 100% man at the same time

I started this thread to not derail The Holy Trinity thread. Jesus is 100% God and 100% man at the same time. That seems like a mathematical impossibility but with God anything is possible. Let's discuss.

Do you think the Gospel makes you uncomfortable?

Not to call out a member here but I was just thinking about this. The Gospel gives us the Savior and forgiveness. Unbelievers find it foolishness. Christians find joy and peace in it. For Christians, it will never make us uncomfortable. So if you're stating something from scripture and a...

Is there something from scripture that makes you uncomfortable?

For me, I always hated the part in the Old Testament where the bear mauled the children but that's because I didn't understand God's plan in setting aside His people for the line of the Savior. 2 Kings 2:24 When he looked behind him and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two...

Heaven. It's not the final destination.

Revelation 21:1-2 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Do you consider heaven and the New...

Do they have to believe as you

Do you feel that people have to believe the same as you to have salvation? What are your minimal requirements for you to consider someone a Christian? What sends them to hell? I ask because I see a lot of different beliefs being preached on this site.
