    Living Waters John 4:1-18

Here are some thoughts about John 4:1-18 as I studied it today. Chapter four starts by telling us that Jesus left Judea to go back to Galilee (where he had left in John 2:13) because the Pharisees and religious leaders had heard that Jesus' disciples were baptizing more than John's. In verse 5...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 7

I went back to the Wesleyan church I attended last week and went to Sunday School and worship there.

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 7

The only down sides to it are that it may take a little longer to cross the starting line and if someone falls and people are tightly packed together they you could get stepped on. It took me about 20 seconds to get passed the starting line, so not bad. I was in a race in my 20's in Dallas...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 7

Yes, so am I. There was at least a thousand people there, so it was a pretty popular race.

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 7

Ran in a 5k this morning. I'm waiting for the official results on my email or text. I think I did pretty good

    Ghosts!

Stress and grief can do strange things to a person. I knew a lady who lost her son in a car accident. She said she saw him come into the house and take off his coat and walk toward the bedroom and stand in the doorway just like he normally would. Except at the time he had already been dead...

What do I do about my anger?

Anger and irritability is often a sign of someone hurting inside. Hurt People tend to turn around and hurt other people. If you have not read it I would suggest you get the book "Hurt People Hurt People" by Dr. Sandra Wilson. It will lead you to think about how your anger may be a reflection...

Garden of Eden - Humans Making Their Own Morality

The essence of sin is that people become their own God and try to live their own lives without God. This was Satan's statement in Genesis 3 4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like...

    What truly is an idol?

An idol can be anything that people worship and put ahead of God whether it be family, other people, their job or money or something else. The point is that it has a place of importance over God that it should not have.

    Should the rich give back?

Yes, I think they should give some of their funds to help out others around them. Of course, they are not obligated to. If they do give, it should be done where they don't gloat about it

What about human suffering? How can God allow it?

Pain and death are the consequences of the fall of man. The Bible says the wages of sin is death Romans 6:23. In the beginning, it was not like that.

    comparing 7 different denominations

I did go to one once but realistically it is too far away to go to it on a consistent basis. Of course, I listen to messages all the time online from various churches.

    comparing 7 different denominations

I would agree with much of what you say. It is a very brief list. I also really wasn't paying attention to the Baptist characteristics, but your also right on about what they believe. I was mainly looking at the other denominations. It is true also that contemporary can mean a lot of things...

    comparing 7 different denominations

Yes and the Lutheran church that is closest to me is ELCA, but I don't think their social liberal views are consistent with my views. It would just be asking for trouble to go there. I noticed yesterday that they are launching a new location of a fast growing nondenominational church near the...

    comparing 7 different denominations

Yes, I grew up in the Methodist church. There are a lot of them near me. Many of them are pretty small, but three or four seem to be growing. I do like the emphasis on discipleship in the Methodist church.

    comparing 7 different denominations

Yes. I have said that in the past. I'm not sure that it is a deal breaker though in terms of whether or not I will attend a church. I do feel like I need something different than what I have been experiencing (if that makes any sense at all). As I understand it, the congregations you...
