I mean, you're partially right. But it's not always true. Sometimes I really want to serve a God, but I want the communication between me and Him to be clearer, to feel less confusing.

So did he tag along just for the financial benefits? What was his motive for following Jesus? Maybe he did believe that Jesus was the Messiah, at least at the beginning of His ministry, but later, seeing that Jesus' mission unfolded differently than what they had imagined, changed his mind.

Define "with any meaning", please. If someone says "Jesus is Lord", but in their heart they want to believe it, but they doubt, do they have faith or is it a meaningless statement?
