    Sacraments

Wow, Paul wrote Ephesians to a bunch of dead people. Since salvation only happens at death then they must have been zombies or reading the letter in the afterlife. LOL

So you disagree with the Catholic church??? Which means it is your opinion and you are following your own opinions.

    Lutherans: Holy Communion

Maybe by individuals but it is my understanding that the large Presbyterian denominations uphold the Westminster Confession of Faith. Certainly the PCA does on their website. (If I were going to be Presbyterian it would be PCA). From the WCF: Worthy receivers, outwardly partaking of the...

    Purgatory

Then I'll ask again. Do you submit to Pope Francis, the college of Cardinals, your local Bishop, and your local Priest? The Catholic church considers them all valid. Do you?

    Sacraments

I disagree, Eph 2 refers to all aspects of Salvation. We have been saved by grace through faith, we are being saved by grace through faith, and we will be saved by grace through faith. Catholics have to twist the scripture to only mean "redemption" or "initial justification" so it will fit...

    Sacraments

Exactly, which is why Mark is being hypocritical when he admonishes us for not being Catholic when he, himself is saying he only follows "valid" Bishops. If Mark is a true Catholic then he doesn't get to choose which Bishops are valid. The church decides that and he follows the church.

    Purgatory

Well then you are contradicting yourself. You posted this: You are doing the exact same thing by deciding for yourself that the Catholic church is apostate. And you contradict yourself by claiming the Catholic church is infallible. The Pope is chosen by the Magisterium. If they chose...

What's the first Book in the Bible you finished?

I have know idea. I grew up in a Southern Baptist home in the deep south (United States). I have John 3:16 memorized but do not remember learning it. The Bible has always been a part of my life. Either at home, through Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Sunday Morning Worship...

    Context

I had a pastor that told us that the Bible was written to others and for us. He did a great job of looking at the region/issues/culture that the books were written in/to. I can tell you this. When, before you study 1 Corinthians, you do a study of Corinthian culture in the 1st Century it...

    Lutherans: Holy Communion

I appreciate this post and the one about Baptism. I believe there is another view on Communion. The Reformed/Presbyterian view. This is an excerpt from a Presbyterian Church of America website. Reformed Christians affirm the real presence of Christ, but this presence is not physical...

    Sacraments

You didn't answer this on the other thread so I thought I would ask it again here. I'm not sure how the notification works on this board so you may have just missed it... How do you determine which Bishops are valid?

    Issues in the Reformation: Salvation

Josiah, How do Lutherans view the Sacraments role in the life of a christian? I come from a Baptist Background and we didn't call Baptism and the Lord's Supper sacraments we called them ordinances. When I first heard the "sacraments" called "Means of Grace" I was a little taken aback. In...

    Issues in the Reformation: Salvation

Sorry for the derailing. I'm just trying to figure out Marks motives. Plus I find it ironic he is calling us all out for not being Catholic when he himself doesn't submit to the Catholic church.

    Issues in the Reformation: Salvation

I'm reading between the lines and assuming you do not submit to the current Pope and College of Bishops that is recognized by the Roman Catholic Church. Who then do you submit to?
