10-year-old girl travels to Indiana for abortion

A baby gets to live. Rape is a horrible and traumatic crime. The situations are complicated and troubling to say the least. However, if you believe that life begins at conception and that abortion is murder of human being, then the only logical outcome is to let the baby live and be adopted...

    New Problem

There are a lot of things that I'm not dogmatic about. It is okay to acknowledge that we, as humans, have a finite understanding of God and how He works. It is also okay to acknowledge that Theologians, through the years, have came up with different understandings of God and different...

    New Problem

Everyone thinks that their denomination/tradition is the "truth". If they didn't then they wouldn't be part of that denomination/tradition.

    Decision Theology

I think the reason I started this thread was that the church I attend doesn't give an altar call and sometimes, frankly, I miss it. I understand the dangers of "false conversion" and manipulation that can go along with the altar call. But in my Baptist tradition that "invitation" as it was...

    Decision Theology

Because it gives them an opportunity to examine themselves to see if they merely confess faith or if they actually posses faith. To be sure that is just one opportunity of many possible opportunities. God can and does work on peoples hearts and minds in many different ways, places, and...

    Decision Theology

The problem with that is a confession of faith isn't the same thing as possession of faith.

    Decision Theology

Playing church is attending church and participating in church activities without a personal saving faith in Christ. It is being religious, because of cultural or family norms and expectations, and not out of a personal faith. I would submit that our churches are full of these people.

    Decision Theology

2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test! All of those questions are asking people to examine themselves to see if they are in...

    Decision Theology

I disagree with this premise. The Gospel is the Gospel whether it is proclaimed loudly and with emotion or quietly in a whisper. God can and does use both our emotions and our intellect to make us aware of our sinfulness, need for forgiveness, and that we need to trust in Christ alone. There...

    Decision Theology

He seems to be saying that if we ask someone "Will you believe and repent?" that we are asking them to somehow contribute to their own salvation. That can only be true if faith earns salvation. I believe Faith is how we accept God's free Gift, not how we earn God's free Gift. Which is one...

    Decision Theology

I think this boils down to how you perceive that belief is a work. I don't believe that belief is a work. Romans 4:5 shows that works and belief are not the same thing. 5 And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness, A...

    Evangelism

That isn't all I would tell them, but it is where I would start. Just as Paul and Silas started with that declaration with the Philippian Jailer. But part of the message is "Believe"

    Roe v Wade Overturned

I direct her to a Christian Crisis Pregnancy Center that I support financially that will help her with healthcare, expenses, and maybe job training and childcare once the baby is born.

    Roe v Wade Overturned

I not talking about a pregnant woman who doesn't want help. I'm talking about being there for those that need help and ask for help. Do you think there is something wrong with helping pregnant women who are in need? One of the charges of the pro-death crowd is that we "Christians" don't...

    Evangelism

How do you give them Jesus? I believe this is how. 30 Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” I would tell them to believe in Jesus.

    Evangelism

So if someone ask you "How do I go to heaven"? or "How can I be forgiven of my sins"? How would you answer them?

    Roe v Wade Overturned

I don't believe I live in a make believe world and I agree with you that this isn't about women and the unborn. I've often said that if they really cared about women and the unborn then the price to adopt would be free and the price of abortion would be $30,000 instead of the other way...

    Roe v Wade Overturned

    Agreed

    Roe v Wade Overturned

A historic day no doubt. I hope we Christians start giving more money to crisis pregnancy centers and ministries that support young single mothers. Being pro-life doesn't just mean being anti-abortion. It means helping those in need, including those who are in need because of sexual sin/mistakes.

    Evangelism

My question about Alter Calls and Decision Theology got me thinking and I have a question for Lutherans and Anglicans and non-evangelicals who are anti-alter call. If you don't ask people if they want to come to faith, or receive the gift of faith or in some way say "yes" to the gospel then...
