What is your church's position on ordaining women to eldership (the priesthood)?

We currently do not have deacons. We have grown to the point where it has been discussed, but nothing official yet. Functionally, we have Community "leaders" who agree to be responsible for organizing community "groups". This includes organizing meetings, study, social occasions, and...

What is your church's position on ordaining women to eldership (the priesthood)?

From the church I attends statement of belief Men and women are absolutely equal in essence, dignity and value but are distinct by divine design. As part of God’s good created order, men and women are to have different yet complementary roles and responsibilities in the home and church. As it...

    class on difference denominations

In what ways are your beliefs no longer aligning with the Baptist? As someone who was raised in a Southern Baptist church in the Rural South who 8 years ago left the SBC for a Non-Denominational (yet still Baptist, in that we practice believers baptism) type of church, I may be able to share...

    "Works of the Law"

I've had someone say to me that "Works of the Law" only includes the ceremonial laws and not the moral laws written in the Mosaic law. Basically, that being "Justified apart from works of the Law" doesn't mean our moral and good works don't play a role in our salvation. Basically, they are...

    "Works of the Law"

How do you define "Works of the Law" as Paul used them in Romans and Galatians? The Old Testament rituals, feast, and animal sacrifices. All of the Mosaic Law, including the 10 Commandments and moral law. I have always used the second meaning. Say that when Paul says, "We are justified by...

Trump said shoplifters should be shot

I meant the writer of the article. To say that Trump was talking about minorities seems to indicate that white people can't be "shoplifters". Trump didn't say "black shoplifters" he said "shoplifters". The writer of the article saw "black people" because that is what he/she wanted to see.

Trump said shoplifters should be shot

Is this guy trying to say that White people never shoplift? From my experience all humans are sinful and capable of crimes. My local PD are constantly arresting white people for various crimes, including shoplifting. People see what they want to see.

    In the other place ....

It just seems to me that this topic is trying to make John MacArthur out as teaching something he doesn't teach. There are other places on his website where hypostatic union and the councils of Chalcedon and Ephesus are explained. The doctrinal statement is fully Trinitarian and basically...

    In the other place ....

From the Grace Community Church Doctrinal Statement (the Church that John MacArthur is the Lead Pastor). Do you see any heresy in this statement of belief? God the Son. We teach that Jesus Christ, the second Person of the Trinity, possesses all the divine excellencies, and in these He is...

    In the other place ....

This is a touchy subject among us non-Catholics. Mainly because of the verbage used. Jesus (the Son) didn't get His start within Mary. While Catholics don't mean that Christ never existed before He was born from Mary, what we hear in the phrase 'The Mother of God" is that before Mary Christ...

Would you miss them if the creeds were all gone?

Being raised in a Southern Baptist home in rural Alabama I can honestly say that I never heard any of the Creeds until I was an adult and encountered "high church" services where the creeds are read on Sunday mornings. I also was only vaguely aware of the Westminster Confession, Augsburg...

    Ron DeSantis Making it official

It is his being a bully, insulting, and overall attitude. It is also being so dislikeable that he lost re-election in 2020 and dragged down the party in 2022 causing the Republicans to underperform in the mid-terms. I think any of the Republican candidates in 2016 would have gotten as many...

    Ron DeSantis Making it official

I'm in Alabama and, just talking to folks, I think DeSantis has an opening in Alabama. We border Florida and I know a bunch of folks who have soured on Trump. We are super Tuesday State (March 5th) so my vote/support in the primaries may actually matter this year. Normally I don't really care...

    Ron DeSantis Making it official

Depends on your definition of better. DeSantis is a much better speaker and does a much better job of explaining why he does what he does. Trump tends to get distracted and personally attack people. However, DeSantis has been on an "anti-woke" campaign that drives the left in the USA nuts...

    Ron DeSantis Making it official

It looks like DeSantis is going to declare his candidacy today on a twitter spaces audio feed with Elon Musk. Will you be supporting his campaign with either money or time? I'm considering doing both. But honestly, he is not my first choice. If Haley or Scott had any chance to win the...
