It’s Christmas Eve Eve right now.

If preplanned with guests stopping by, we have a gift exchange. But this time it will be good eats, a bottle of wine, and favorite Christmas movies. Followed by a good night's sleep in the Lord.

Why didn't Jesus die for the other thief?

Only saved people can have faith. It's a fruit of the Spirit. Flesh faith cannot save, it only deceives people into thinking they saved themselves.

The Parable of the Landowner and Blood Atonement

“Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:” Acts 2:23 (KJV 1900)

Why didn't Jesus die for the other thief?

But he did not, or both thieves would have been saved.

Why didn't Jesus die for the other thief?

It seems but until the revelation, he probably assumed Jesus got what he deserved. This is why we preach the gospel. To inform God's people scattered abroad of their salvation and to promote Holy living.

Why didn't Jesus die for the other thief?

Jesus revealed himself to the saved thief. It's a perfect picture of what takes place in salvation. First, we have the "King of the Jews" (Jesus). Jesus teaches that unless a person is born again, they cannot see his Kingdom. So the thief was born again sometime before or during his crucifixion...

    Rewritten 'woke' Christmas carol

It's just another protest song that shows symptoms of the current state of things. Romans 1 might help explain why things are as they are.

Why didn't Jesus die for the other thief?

This is the question. Jesus paid for the sins of the thief he assured of salvation during his crucifixion. But not the other. Why not?

The 5 points of TULIP for 1689Dave

The new birth precedes belief in the gospel.

The 5 points of TULIP for 1689Dave

It's based on #4. I believe a more correct version would be: before the will comes into play, God regenerates the elect, and they from then on progressively become more Holy because of their new Holy nature. Just as a cat does cat things, they do Christian things.

For those who hold to TULIP, are any of you non-elect?

Great list. I'm familiar with many of these. Most of my studies are centered in the old Princeton School. But I sample many of the more recent contributors.

A Jewish way of looking at salvation

It's everywhere. But a serious bible student will always consider the audience in making their interpretation.

    What would Love do?

A Nazi might answer the question "what would Jesus do" far differently than a Pacifist Christian. But in asking What would Love do?" We correctly answer WWJD? So, what if we were to use the word Love as a scripture interpretation guide? That is to say, what if we use Love, the definition of God...

    Movies that illustrate truth unintentially?

Forrest Gump is a splendid example of faith over trusting in the arm of the flesh.

A Jewish way of looking at salvation

I think the biggest problem with Americanised Christians is in trying to understand scripture as if it were written today. They have very little if any understanding of the Jews to whom it is addressed, and what they would believe in reading it. Many volumes exist trying to bridge this gap but...

The 5 points of TULIP for 1689Dave

This experience of total depravity in Augustine's life helped in his battle against Pelagius Morgan proving that Free Will is a lie. Luther wrote a book on it called "the Bondage of the Will" using it unintentionally to divide the Catholic Church into Protestants.

    What now for Republicans?

God controls the vote and who is President. I see the USA under His wrath everywhere I look and can only expect the worse.

Have you ever been around them? You will know them by their fruits.

Do you think sinning is unavoidable?

Paul says we can overcome the temptation to sin and live a sinless life. “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” Galatians 5:16 (KJV 1900) Here's my approach to walking in the Spirit. “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth...

The 5 points of TULIP for 1689Dave

In all of my studies so far I cannot say Calvin taught limited atonement. The only person I have come across so far as the first teacher of the doctrine is Luther. Probably based on Augustine's logic. Regarding Romans 9:20-21, Luther wrote: “God will have all men to be saved” (1 Timothy...
