    Heartbroken

Just a little personal rant.... I have a friend I've known for 47 years. We were best friends for more than 20 years. Then she married someone who figured I was a "bad influence" and would not allow me to see her for a couple of years - and then only once every year or two, although we...

    Best decade of your life?

I'm 51, and my 20's and 30's were both amazing years. When I turned 40, my whole life fell apart and I had to rebuild from the [very] bottom up. I finally feel like I've sprouted roots again, but life is not back to where it should be for my age. My 40's were devastating on so many levels.

What do you miss about being a kid?

LBF - yes, I think that's what I'm trying to say too...only you were much more concise. After all, if I was physically capable, I could still run through sprinklers! lol

    the best thing

What's the best thing about being married? For me, it's knowing that even if I mess up, I know my husband will love me anyway...it's the safe place where I can be vulnerable and still come out loved, where humility is not a sign of weakness. ... But I also kinda enjoy being the early bird...

What do you miss about being a kid?

Running through sprinklers, water pistol fights, hanging upside down on monkey bars (or walking across the top of them), tobogganing down the same hills all day long without getting tired and then going home to hot cocoa with real marshmallows, singing at the top of my lungs and not caring what...

    The death penalty

This is a hard question. I'm Canadian and we do not have the death penalty, so I've been socialized to not accept it. I still do not accept it for so many reasons - primarily because of the potential for innocent people to be executed. Also, if someone is executed, perhaps that is shortening...

    Wwyd

We have equal rank, but he has been there for a long time. We are non-union, so seniority is not really applicable. There are some personality things that I find irritating like his lack of control over his temperament and his lack of emotional / social intelligence. I can handle those things...

Inka! Is that you?? Hugs! You're right....anyone else would have fired him by now. Part of the problem is that men are hard to come by in this field, and company policy is that we have a man in each office due to the nature of the clients we deal with. So they are hesitant to let him go...

I work in a small satellite office and love the idea that we are a relatively self-sufficient and synergistic team. Unfortunately, it is little more than an idea. I am the newcomer to the team, but I have more education and experience than one of the team (Bob). Bob has been with the company on...

    My purpose in life

Does it all seem a little overwhelming to you, trying to figure it all out at once? If so, it might help to break things down into manageable tasks. First things first... imo, the first thing you should do is go to a mental health clinic and have an assessment for anxiety. If you have a...

    Solved Broken search?

Thanks, Lambkins.... ;) I clicked on settings and it appears I have no subscribed threads. Am I doing something wrong? How do I subscribe to the threads I post in?

    Solved Broken search?

Jeepers...I came here to make a new thread about where to find a list of all the threads I made a post in, and saw this answer. I don't even remember where I post, so I never came back to revisit this one. No, this is fixed now and I have no problem searching. But now I would really like to...

    Those self-righteous Christians!

Exactly, Bill. It seems a lot of Christians think we are *****appointed morality police, we think we are "better than" for no other reason than we have higher standards for morality - so we say and do not do.... Imo, self-righteousness is the opposite of the humility (deep recognition of our own...

    Informal Style of Prayer?

Years ago I lost my beloved. Two years later I lost my pastor (who was also my best friend's husband). That was around the time when the song "I Can Only Imagine" came out. My heart was in such a mess that I could not listen to the song without bursting into tears, thinking about the two men I...

Do men REALLY age better than women?

Your dad is very distinguished and your mom is still young at heart. Are you saying I'm not young and perky? (careful here, I'm perimenopausal...lol) I can't either. I am fat; you are well filled out. :) Well, you did come with me on my walk around the duck pond today, so... :cheer2: Hmm...

Do men REALLY age better than women?

Women age. Men become "distinguished". Women are only pretty when they are young and perky. Men become "distinguished". Women get fat. Men fill out. Women go through "mentalpause" and get cranky. Men have a "crisis". Any differences between men and women aging is socially conditioned.

How often do you wash/wax your car?

We are in a severe drought, and with the water restrictions, we are not allowed to wash our cars right now. We had a little rain over the last couple of days, but currently it will take 3 months of solid rain to refill our reserves. The rest of summer is still supposed to be hot and dry, so in...
