Garlic is good. It's got a good flavor and is really good for you as a bonus.
I don't know that I'd choose something loaded with garlic at a dinner where I needed to make a good impression. In a formal business setting I'd avoid garlic and if I was on a first date wanting to impress someone I'd probably avoid it too. But my wife loves garlic as much as I do, so if I'm out for dinner with her there's a fair chance we'll both choose something with garlic in it.
She likes my garlic bread. If you have even the faintest suspicion that you might be a vampire you'll want to avoid my garlic bread. It bites back.

Ah, if you slice it thinly on the wide side, put it in olive oil in a cold stainless steel pan and heat it up slowly on low, it's not spicy. It becomes rather sweet tasting.

I put a lot of garlic into my pasta sauce yesterday and I can still smell it on my fingers this morning! LOL I need to go put some lemon juice on them before church so I don't stink.

I've never worried too much about a bit of leftover garlic smell unless I'm expecting to get particularly close to people.
A few times I've met a friend for lunch after a run, when I don't have time to take a full shower. I'll clean up so I'm not dripping sweat and don't smell, but I'm not expecting to passionately embrace him so as long as sitting across a table in a cafe from me isn't unpleasant I'm not overly worried. Although this is a friend who has helped haul stuff for me, so it's not like he's never seen me looking less than fully presentable.
