When Jesus's disciples asked him how many would be saved, he replied, " the path that leads to the kingdom of God is narrow and difficult, and few ever find it."
And so the joy of my own salvation is largely crushed by the knowledge that most of the people I've ever known, including most of my family, will spend eternity screaming in an incomprehensible agony of despair and hopelessness in hell.
It eludes me how I, or anyone else, could go skipping happily off through the daisies with Jesus while just beneath our feet such unbearable tragedy will be constantly playing out. Maybe that's one of the reasons Jesus was a man of sorrows.
It is troubling to say the least - any thoughts?

Christ should always be a joy and that He loved us and never has stopped loving us. The reason He sacrificed and was humiliated and beaten before that brutal cross so that we wouldn't have to do it ourselves. Which we should had as we are and were sinners and Jesus was not.
Due to that we walk in the Lord. Walk by faith, not by sight!

What exactly is our purpose here in life? Does one have to live a monk like existence to walk the path to the kingdom of god? The literature says that man is incomplete, this implies that we are not well engineered, is this a short coming of god and if so what does god expect?
Adam was incomplete only because he lacked his suitable helper, who was created out of him; it has nothing to do with his DNA.

Gen 2:18 Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”

I think god basically rejected himself, with all his rules how can anyone breath or enjoy life? Everything equates to a sin if you really examine the 10 commandments (not all) and seven deadly sins, never mind visceral sin. I deem god unlikeable, I think he wants everyone to have a certain level of misery. Just because this is not apparent to many, some who really know him would agree.

When I went through catholic school, I was taught that god is loving but it was never explained in a way that amounted to any substance, nothing about how the holy spirit really works or synchronicity of the universe.
@Planet1246, the Holy Spirit works just the way God the Father and Jesus work, since they are ONE God together. What do you mean by the "synchronicity of the universe"? The universe fell into decay when humans sinned the first time. Black holes, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, and human tragedies are the results. For believers, we have great hope in the coming of Jesus, when he will create the new universe (Revelation 21:1), "Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more."

It's a good song except for the word "reckless," for me has a negative connotation, that is, a negative emotional feeling. I don't want to feel anything negative about God.

Here's the lyrics:

Reckless Love

Song by

Cory Asbury
Before I spoke a word, you were singing over me
You have been so, so good to me
Before I took a breath, you breathe your life in me
You have been so, so good to me

Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights 'til I'm found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn't earn it, and I don't deserve it, still, you give yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God,

When I was your foe, still your love fought for me
You have been so, so good to me
When I felt no worth, you paid it all for me
You have been so, so kind to me

And oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights 'til I'm found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn't earn it, and I don't deserve it, still, you give yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah

There's no shadow you won't light up
Mountain you won't climb up
Coming after me
There's no wall you won't kick down
Lie you won't tear down
Coming after me

Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights 'til I'm found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn't earn it, and I don't deserve it, still, you give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God

I think that this song has a lot to recommend it. However, the word "reckless" is one to which I object. That word has a negative connotation or feeling to it. And I have no desire to attach any negative feelings to God. Besides, I pray every day since I lost my balance that God will use Jesus' victory to replace my recklessness as an old-nature quality that exceeds my limits with a new-nature one called caution!!

I agree that the word reckless was the wrong word to use in that song...Synonyms: careless, wild, rash, irresponsible...God is none of those.
