    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

It was cooler today so I took the chance to get a long run in. My watch had a challenge to run a 15k during June, and today was the day. I felt pretty good, which surprised me. I'd gone out expecting to alternate running and walking but aside from a comfort break at the local store I ran the...

Are UFOs the advancement of our secret tech?

It's really hard to know. My guess is they will be related to some kind of coming deception, although whether the origin of that deception is human or the deception referred to in (I think) 2 Thess 2 is another matter.

    FIFA World Cup

If you can find anyone less interested in the World Cup than I am, I'd be intrigued to meet them.

    Garlic? Yay or Nay?

I've never worried too much about a bit of leftover garlic smell unless I'm expecting to get particularly close to people. A few times I've met a friend for lunch after a run, when I don't have time to take a full shower. I'll clean up so I'm not dripping sweat and don't smell, but I'm not...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

Today was the third day in a row that I ran. The last couple of days were a struggle because I really don't do well when it's hot and humid. Today was much less humid, so I was running a clear 30 seconds per mile faster than the last couple of days without feeling like it was too much of an effort.

    Garlic? Yay or Nay?

You wouldn't like my garlic bread. You really wouldn't like my fiery garlic bread :)

    watered down sermons

Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. (James 1:27, NKJV) There is a Biblical case for adoption, although "visiting" orphans and adopting them into your family are different...

    Garlic? Yay or Nay?

Garlic is good. It's got a good flavor and is really good for you as a bonus. I don't know that I'd choose something loaded with garlic at a dinner where I needed to make a good impression. In a formal business setting I'd avoid garlic and if I was on a first date wanting to impress someone I'd...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

Very gentle run today. My legs are really slowing down with the combination of walking/running and doing all the work on the house.

That's an interesting definition of hiking.... I've always regarded more or less controlled terrain as a walk and anything wilder as a hike. So if I walk on the roads or the sidewalks then it's a walk however far I go, and if I'm walking on trails in the woods it's a hike however short. I've...

How do you manage your cholesterol?

I've never really worried about it. It often seems to me that target ranges shift downwards, thereby pushing lots of people out of range and into "needs medication" territory, meaning more profit for the pharmaceutical corporations.

My watch is an older Garmin Forerunner, I've had it five years now. I can configure it so my phone talks on its behalf. I don't care for that, it beeps at me when I lap (and it's set up to auto-lap every mile), it beeps at me if any metrics go outside the desired range (which usually means my...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

At church yesterday my youngest two granddaughters usually sit either side of me (one between my wife and I, one between my daughter and I). For the singing they stand on the pews so they can see the words on the screen. The youngest, who is six, often wants me to pick her up and hold her. My...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

For me right now it's hard to know whether my muscles are aching because I'm getting older, because I was swinging my grandchildren around, because I've been running, or because I've been working in confined spaces pulling cables and connecting stuff over my head. I've told my daughter she...
