I certainly hope not, because I would be one of the very first groups targeted...the dreaded atheist! I'm worse than a cannibalistic serial killer in the eyes of many...I don't merely kill and eat people, I (gasp!!) demand evidence before belief! Oh the humanity!

But not only that, no group would truly be safe except perhaps for white Anglo-Saxon Protestants.

Nobody that I personally know of would consider you to be a "cannibalistic serial killer," Mark. It would also be pretty self-evident that such a change in the law would be specific to the "anchor babies" to end the practice of turning non-Americans into legal Americans. It would not target anyone based on religious belief or on-belief. To make such a nasty comment about "white Anglo-Saxon Protestants" would be to crucify the very group of people who gave you the right to disbelieve in our Creator.

Although I personally think that all "anchor babies" should be stripped of their American citizenship -- if neither parent is an American citizen -- I'm sure that the public would never agree to such a thing. So it probably would not be retroactive -- but just be applied from that moment forward.

Yes, perhaps my attempt at humor there was a bit over the top, but there is no doubt we are unjustly vilified as horrible people with no morals and as agents of the devil.

To make such a nasty comment about "white Anglo-Saxon Protestants" would be to crucify the very group of people who gave you the right to disbelieve in our Creator.

Here I simply meant that each minority would be whittled away until we are left with what I believe is the largest demographic in the country. I didn't mean to imply this behavior would be exclusive to them alone, but to any group who happened to have the largest number. I was actually thinking of the following text by Pastor Martin Niemöller:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—

You likely wouldn't notice it so much because you are in line with the majority. But trust me when I say there is a tangible loathing for atheists in this country. Many people ignorantly associate atheism with communism, or worse yet devil worship. I have seen the negative change in attitude from some people when they learn I am an atheist...suddenly they are looking me up and down like I can no longer be trusted. You still hear people say of others, "He is a God-fearing man" as if that somehow makes him a better person. But hopefully, such ignorance is on its way out, even if agonizingly slow to happen.

I think that perhaps what you are sensing is areluctance to know what to say. On one level you want to witness to them but will it be received without anger. I dont see what youa re saying so much any more, at one time that was very true

Well, I certainly do not want to be witnessed to, but I am not rude or angry when I tell people not to push their religion on me the first time. It's unwanted and uncalled for. And it is getting better as most are becoming less ignorant, but I would still say you naturally wouldn't notice it nearly as much as I do because you do not experience it firsthand.

True, please dont be hard on someone witnessing as we are hard wired to want everyone saved and most dont beat you over the head with it. For me it just comes up naturally as in this happened and I thank ZGod for the blessings, that type of thing

I'm not hard the first time...I just politely but firmly tell them I have heard the gospel and have no compelling reason to believe it. If they persist, then I can become less than polite, as they have asked for it.

I can't say I blame the person at all, for they believe they are charged by Christ to preach the gospel, and I understand that. As long as they respect my wishes once I decline, then no harm no foul. And I can count the number of times a person has persisted in my life on one hand.

I also want to point out though, that it should be fairly common knowledge that people do not become atheist because they are ignorant of religion, in fact just the opposite is true. Atheists consistently score better on quizzes about religion than do theists. So to think "this atheist, poor guy, he's just never heard about God" is sort of like thinking a gay man has just never met the right woman yet.

Unless I'm understanding you incorrectly, I'm not sure where you get your news from. Because your comment is 180 degrees from reality. In schools & the workplace, it's more like everyone with a religion is being forced to act like THEY are atheists. Not allowed to mention God because it might offend the tiny segment of society who do not believe in God. Atheist activists have been trying for years to remove the phrase "In God We Trust" from our currency. In the Punchbowl military cemetery in Hawaii, an atheist forced the removal of all the crosses over the military graves because the sight of it was offensive to him when he made his semi-annual business trips there and had to drive past it.

So it's just the opposite. God fearing Americans are being told they can't act like religious people. They are being bullied by the tyrrany of a very activist and small minority.

Nobody hates them because they do not believe in God. But, if anybody does hate them, it is because they are trying to force our constitutional rights away from us and convert this into a secular society.

So, at least in a great number of cases, they bring that dislike on themselves.

I think you and your fellow atheists are living under an illusion that people think of you as evil people. Could be a bit of paranoia because you are right in the middle of things and are not getting an accurate perspective of the country in general. I can almost guarantee you that nobody gives a rat's whatever about your religious -- or non-religious -- convictions. Your beliefs, or lack of thereof, are your own business and the vast majority of Americans just want to get a long with everyone instead of seeing attacks on one constitutional right after another.

Atheists must understand that they have the same rights as everyone else -- but they are not special people who must be put up on a pedistal. They must understand that other people also have those very same rights.

It is also a very disrespectful thing to say that our country would whittle away one minority after another if they could do it. People do not hate minorities, although they may hate some of the unAmerican things that some minorities do. Love the sinner but hate the sin, etc. But to imply that minorities would be removed from our country is pretty silly when you consider that our country was based on freedom for all. I would recommend that you go to other countries and see how tolerant they might be of other cultures living among them.

You just might come back to the USA and kiss the very soil that we walk on.

You misread my post...I merely said if we begin stripping one group of citizenship for whatever reason, then that could lead us to a slippery slope of other groups then being stripped. One only has to look to history to understand that as a real concern.

Trump makes deals.

We all know Trump wants a Wall.
In order to get a Wall the best way is not to push it, but have people asking for it.


So he made additional 2 proposals -
1. Deport 11 million illegal immigrants
2. Resolve the "anchor babies" issue.
3. Build a Wall that cannot be penetrated.

1 and 2 are highly complex and clearly he would not go for it.
3 is as easy as it ever gets for Trump. He builds skyscrapers.

But if he proposes ONLY the Wall people would start debating, yes, no, maybe, how, when, why ...

However, if you propose 1 and 2 in addition to 3 ... everyone would pick 3 ... because 1 and 2 are just too scary.

You give people choices, 1,2 or 3.
You already want 3, but you lead everyone else to ASK for 3 in order to avoid 1 and 2

Deal-making.

We should have a Great Wall of Trump and Spanish Americans would be celebrating it, since they do not want 1 or 2.

Trump is exceptionally good at making deals.

I am really optimistic about him running.

Who knows, maybe I would finally get to vote after so many years.
