Ressurrection and Ascension

What does it mean to you?

Acts 2:24
But God raised him up, having freed him from death, because it was impossible for him to be held in its power.
1 Peter 1:3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
Ephesians 1:22
And he has put all things under his feet and has made him the head over all things for the church,
Ephesians 2:6
and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
Matthew 28:18
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Psalm 2
God’s Promise to His Anointed
1
Why do the nations conspire,
and the peoples plot in vain?
2
The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and his anointed, saying,
3
“Let us burst their bonds asunder,
and cast their cords from us.”
4
He who sits in the heavens laughs;
the Lord has them in derision.
5
Then he will speak to them in his wrath,
and terrify them in his fury, saying,
6
“I have set my king on Zion, my holy hill.”
7
I will tell of the decree of the Lord:
He said to me, “You are my son;
today I have begotten you.
8
Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and the ends of the earth your possession.
9
You shall break them with a rod of iron,
and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”
10
Now therefore, O kings, be wise;
be warned, O rulers of the earth.
11
Serve the Lord with fear,
with trembling
12
kiss his feet,
or he will be angry, and you will perish in the way;
for his wrath is quickly kindled.

Happy are all who take refuge in him.

It means that He conquered death and the grave, bore our sins for us and bought salvation for us the complete finished work

The resurrection and ascension of Jesus means that a human being - the one human being who obeyed God without any sin - has died and risen from death and ascended to heaven where this human being lives forever in God's presence elevated above all creation. And that is the core of a Christian's hope of resurrection and ascension for him/her self. Jesus is the author (pioneer some translations say) and finisher (the one who completes) our faith he went ahead as the first resurrected and glorified human to ascend to heaven and that is why we have the hope that we too will ascend and share his resurrected nature as a glorified human being.
