Famous People who annoy you?

Ant and Dec. I really don't see what the fuss is about. I know people who will seek them out, but personally if I see them come on the TV I'm reaching for the OFF switch already.

As a rule celebrities who think I care about their opinions on political or economic matters annoy me, whether I agree with their views or not. I'll start caring about what Bob Geldof or Bono thinks about politics and economics around the same time I go to a gig to watch Donald Trump play guitar while George Bush sings.

Lol, yes, and one of my all time favorite ladies on the political media scene is Laura Ingraham, (I met her when she came to town doing a book tour and signing, ... Yes!) And she wrote a book a while back called 'Shut Up and Sing' !
Lol, it was about this very thing, although obviously mostly going after the leftist liberals, since they make up much of the Hollywood/entertainment industry, and often have the loudest political opinions, using their celebrity status as a platform, and a way to garner more support and applause. The books title really said it all , though ...

We like your talent, and we pay good money to enjoy it, but we really dont need your political views shoved at us between performances, you're ruining our ability to admire your work, so puhleeese, just shut up and sing!!! I think most famous people are crazy on one way or the other..The things they demand and not have to pay for it, like having rooms decorated and flowers etc whole floors being given to them just because of who they are and security like it goes out of fashion.. madness really..

I only seldom pay much or any attention to the worldly rich or famous to be much annoyed by it. I do get annoyed though when ordinary people who pay too much attention to them start taking on their opinions and "causes". I honestly start to think a little less of the people who do this, because it seems like they are just gauging what they think is popular opinion and aligning themselves with it in order to be liked and/or admired in some way - rather than actually thinking about the issue and forming their own opinion on it.

Not exactly. I see it more as a combination of a form of mental laziness and dishonesty and herd think. The person is not thinking "is this true? Is it right?"

Instead they are led by *what they perceive* is popular opinion. They aren't adopting an opinion because a particular famous person is promoting it - they're adopting it because they think it's what the majority thinks. The Celebrity need not be an idol, just a means of coat-tailing admiration and back slaps from the perceived majority. These people will not take a minority position. Being "black sheep" is anathema to them.
