felt as strong as 4.5 but it was a 4.0 magnitude. i think it was because sunday's temps were really hot..could of attributed to the quake happening. all is quiet now

cheers CHers. i think the worse is over. earthquakes can be unpredictable..they strike without warning. no state in the usa or country is invulnerable to a quake. if a magnitude 9 strikes, our city would be engulfed by the sea, calling our new home, atlantis

Move eastwards onto the granite lands where quakes don't make your house sink ... it is safer. Try somewhere in the Lamorinda area.

sup morecoffee! speaking of sinking, the land we are on now isnt that stable..used to be marsh land many centuries ago. i wish we could move to more solid ground but that wont happen for another 10 years.

Nothing much is up but I used to live in Lafayette and the ground there was less likely to liquefy during a quake. That made it a bit safer. There was a small quake when I was there; made my bed shake side to side in the morning. I was sleeping having a nice dream too! ... where I live now quakes are rather rare but they do happen. I live in the hills on solid granite. But it is the other side of the world from Lafayette :)

Probably pretty low with the mountains and the geograpthy of hard ground. Eastern Pa would probably be more prone if we are to get one. Actually if the New Madrid fault becomes active I think we would p[robably get a couple

Glad you are okay! I've only experienced a very minor quake growing up in Indiana. I've not experienced any here in Florida, but I know it can happen anywhere. I love in a coastal county whose mean elevation is 21 ft above sea level, so a large quake here would not end well. :D

I believe the highest point is somewhere in the panhandle at 345 ft. above sea level. But, yes, I think of peninsular Florida as just a big sauna situated on a sandbar, covered in mosquitoes. Other than that, it's lovely! :popworm:

i beleive any city that sits near a large body of water such as florida, seattle etc is destined to be doomed if a 9.0 quake hits. i mean tsunami would engulf any city near the water. im thinking of buying some scuba gear just in case >j/k
