Do you remember how much a loaf of bread cost from when you were a kid or even older compared to what it is now?

How about gas?

Milk?

What other things do you remember (or look up on Google!)?

Not really but I remember 5 cent candy bars and 10 cent cokes. A can of vienna sausage was a quarter. I can also remember gas at 33 cents a gallon. I bought a brand new Plymouth Satellite in 1972 and it cost 3600, I didnt get the top of the line Fury because it was 4500

I recall going to matinee movies as a child and paying 75 cents (or actually my dad having to pay 75 cents as he howled about how it was 10 cents when he was a kid). I remember gasoline being 40 cents/gallon...a box of sugary cereal being 48 cents a box, and my parents paying $12,000 for a 3 bedroom house when I was about 3. :D

I remember the first desktop I bought. Top of the line at the time. Bought a printer and monitor. Came with Windows 3.1. Cost about $3200.

My iPhone is far more powerful.

i remember paying just 75 cents to go see a matinee show at the movie theatre..and how only $1.50 could get a ride to and from the bay area to san francisco on the commuter train (BART-bay area rapid transit) and how only 15 cents could get you the local daily newspaper. good ol times. but as inflation grew, so did the price of everything in life.

Bread was about a quarter when I was a little girl.

When my husband and I bought our first house, we paid $88,000 and today that house (we no longer live there) is worth about $115,000.

Now if you handed me a dollar and told me to buy something I would say I need at least another quarter just to get things out of a vending machine dude. What do you want me to buy with a whole dollar?

Yep, in the old days things were cheaper but we got paid less too. I remember my first job paid around $8,000 per year :p
