What's the difference between an Expatriate and an Immigrant?

Immagrent is there to become a citizen, an expat is just living in another country. For example there are many americans who have retired to Mexico because their dollars go further

An immigrant doesn't necessarily become a citizen.

I'd say an expat is someone living in another country, an immigrant is someone living in another country for the long term. So I'd say that all immigrants are expats, but not all expats are immigrants.
