Do you find that if you're in a place mentally where you're suffering that your physical health is affected by it?

No. I have never had physical problems and some never had mental ones but then with stress and stuff their body reacted.
Like with your period. Some get pain, some get crazy.

It does with me. When I'm having issues mentally I can feel my physical health go down.

Sleep is a great example for this thread! Thanks, Ruth.

Don't our bodies try to do a healing process during sleep?

Depression is a hidden mystery no one really can tell why you get it only try to find out the common cause of it sometimes, they have no idea why you get it . I understand its all to do with the serotonin levels, they are your natural mood stabilizer in the body which give you mood swings to low and depression, to high make you happy, sunlight can also help those people who suffer from sad which is seasonal affective disorder meaning not enough sun light really,....

My daughter had problems in the winter with SADD. We bought her a lamp and it really helped but she needed to discipline herself and use it!!

Physical symptoms can be some of the best 'markers' for mental health issues. If a person is constantly tired, lacks energy, has declined in productivity, those kinds of things. Otoh, people who might be considered 'manic' may be sleeping less, become more active (but in ways that are unhealthy) - overindulging in exercise, sexual acting out, etc.
With things like anxiety and panic attacks, there are very definite physical symptoms that go along with the anxious thoughts - heart rate, hyperventilation, sweating, shakiness, etc.

Do you have a sun lamp?

I went to the ER for depression and the doctor said I should get one. Looks like I will be looking into getting one.

There is a strong link between depression and diabetes. I know when my blood sugar is high that I am more likely to be irritable and not want to do anything

True! I've heard doctors say that patients can sometimes wish their way to better health :)
