Bible "contradictions" - do we sin or not?

The other is to look at the spiritual side of being in Christ and the flesh which sins

That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Just because we live in a body which can sin. does not mean we have to sin.

the greatest command, when adhered to, causes the consequence of a life fee from sinning .(this will take some time to stop and read that command without letting the verse numbers interrupt the absolute statement it makes .)

The greatest paradox and contradiction comes not from god but from unrepentant mankind who seeks to excuse and justify his sin .

No .neither does he/she need to. for upon the Spirit's conviction ,which is the only true way sin is revealed to the heart(for Who other then god who searches out the heart can know it) , he/she will turn from it in repentance and not go that way again .

The Lord Jesus turns us back for when w turn to follow him and go his way we are turned back, and reconciled to God . in reconciliation to God who is love . we are free and choice is returned to us that the true state of our heart can be made known . for he takes out the heart of stone and gives us a new living heart upon which his law is written . obedience and compliance to this new nature of Christ in us is then in Our hands .

the greatest commandment is love . few people see it that it is not rules to adhere to( for we know a person can adhere to a set of rules and be utterly wicked on the inside with no love for God ) but rather a declaration of consequence .

by this i simply mean - :He says (and here we leave out the verse numbers so they do not interrupt the train of thought in the text ) :"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
"

This is a declaration inside the command . For he is stating the law of consequence he tells us what we SHALL DO , love the lord your god and when you do his law shall be IN your heart , not a set of rules outside of you but something that is in your and comes forth from you as love , going on to say that because you love the lord your god you shall teach it to your children etc . all the "SHALLS ' are a consequence of the first "SHALL ' .. you shall love the lord your God and because you do you shall teach it to your children you shall do this and that .

ALL the "SHALL NOTS ' are ALSO consequence of the first SHALL ie- because you SHALL love the lord your GOD and your neighbor as yourself you "shallnot commit adultery or lie or steal etc . because you cannot steal from your neighbor while you are loving God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself .it is impossible . to steal from the one we love. we must first leave off loving them .
This is why Jesus our lord says : "if you love me you will keep my words" . And since in him we are reconciled to god (Who IS love ) and are bought at great cost back into union with him . we cannot sin and say we love him at the same time! . But we can listen to him and when he corrects us and reveals things in our lives that are not a result of his new nature of love in us , but rather a result of living after the old nature of the flesh and mind (soul) .then out of our love for him we agree with him and admit our fault and repent quickly from it and do not turn again to it unless we love that activity more then we love Christ.which we cannot do if we love Christ.

Paul reiterates this when he says" and you hath he quickened who were dead in tresspasses and sin wherein in times past you did walk ,according to the course of this world ,according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit which now works in the children of disobedience .Among whom also we all IN TIMES PAST walked in the lust of Our flesh ,fulfilling the desire of the flesh and of the mind . So we see that we can live from two different foundations .one is flesh soulish and one is the new living SPIRIT .
so a man/woman CAN ,as in has the ability to sin and does so if they follow the desire of the flesh and of the mind . but in love for god choose to follow the SPirit and NOT the flesh and mind .

this is also why paul says if you walk after the Spirit (which is the holy Spirit within that has made our spirit alive to chrsit ) you WILL NOT fulfil the evil desire of the flesh .
and this returns us to the first point i made .
Just because we "can sin" does NOT mean we HAVE to .

Those who are "born again" in the spiritual kingdom, which means to be awakened to the true created image in God cannot sin even though the flesh of man is still attached until it perishes. This is why Jesus said this;

John 6
63: It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh is of no avail; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

The flesh is of no avail once you learn who you are in God.

Born again doesn't mean "to be awakened to the true created image in God" it means being born of God. In my bible it is written "Jesus answered: In all truth I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above." [SUP]John 3:3[/SUP] That translation is less likely to confuse readers about what is meant. And how is one born from above, the Lord answers thus "Jesus replied: In all truth I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born through water and the Spirit; what is born of human nature is human; what is born of the Spirit is spirit." [SUP]John 3:5-6[/SUP] So any person who is baptised has their sins washed away according to the scriptures [SUP]Acts 22:16[/SUP].


cannot sin even though the flesh of man is still attached until it perishes. This is why Jesus said this:

John 6: 63: It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh is of no avail; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

The flesh is of no avail once you learn who you are in God.

The flesh spoken about in John chapter 6 is human flesh and that is a phrase that points to fallen and disordered human nature under the power of sin. "It is the Spirit who gives life. The flesh does not offer anything of benefit. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life." [SUP]John 6:63[/SUP]

If you knew it then you would not have said that being born again is "to be awakened to the true created image in God" because it isn't that it is to be born from above by baptism and the Spirit. If you knew that you would have said it.

Two verses from the same letter to think about:

1Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

1Jn 3:6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.

On the face of it this looks like it's saying that if we say we have no sin we are liars, but if we abide in Him we do not sin. This looks like an interesting contradiction. Anyone got any thoughts on this one?

One huge mistake is presenting this as if it is a contradiction.
It only appears that way when we extract two sentences out.
There is absolutely no contradiction in the text of the letter he is writing. Read it all in its context and you can see that it is the case.
Chapters and verse numbers don't exist .they are an added distraction .

Even after saying this.few if any will actually go and carefully read the whole letter from John. And will maintain an incorrect perception based on what others have told them ,others who hold to the same misconceptions based on the fact they too didn't read the whole uninterrupted letter.As it is written .

I will take a stab at it. I don't think there is a contradiction between the verses at all.

im going to ask the question i see others ask (but my motive is very very different )
you say in #3. "One who sins is the unrepentant person outside of Christ who has never been saved " are you saying because you are saved and in Christ "you never sin '? (I of course Know that is not what you mean )
or are you saying one who sins ,though they may use the title chrsitian and consider themselves to be so , they are not what they say they are because they are unrepentant ?
i have observed quickly that I I said this sentence in number 3 .that is the type of questioning i would be bombarded with.

repentance cancels the sin debt. It is like if I go to the store and I purchase merchandise.(say the merchandise is sin) Instead of charging my account, the merchant charges it to Jesus' account. The debt is never imputed to me.

interesting ,and again i see the analogy and its a good one .
but if your debt were like a maxed out credit card debt of 50 million and the penalty for not paying it is death -then the king you own the debt to comes and pays the debt penalty ,
-by dying the death none the less - , who will pay it if one purposely ,knowingly goes and clocks up the credit card again ?

i think this is where "there is no further sacrifice for willful sin " comes in , as this is not speaking about making a mishap . but purposely maxing that card again

The debt is paid means that it's paid in full. It was paid over 2,000 years ago before you were born and covers every single one of your sins, even the ones you haven't committed yet. Even ones that your unborn children/grandchildren haven't committed yet. That's the Gospel that is pure and strong. That doesn't give us permission to go out and sin.
