Prayers for my daughter's traveling and interview

Please pray for my daughter who has an interview on Monday. She will be traveling over an hour and most of us are aware that the weather in the US is a bit rough right now with snow and cold temps. I'm worried about her old car even though we had it repaired while she was here staying with us.

I'm glad to hear the weather is improving there. She's been driving since she was 15 but it's the other people who aren't so great at it!

She did not get the internship and they did not give a reason why.

i have sent a small prayer for your daughter to be safe and sound, and hope that she will have successful interview i know from experience when i had a car that was old and trying to drive in bad weather lamm hun.

Thank you! She texted last night saying her brakes are still behaving weird and the car isn't driving right so she's taking it back in to yet another place for repair. Old cars. At least it was our old car so we know the history. Unfortunately having women take cars in for repairs generally means being taken advantage of

It's good to know enough, even if only about one area, to be able to ask the kind of question that leaves people guessing just how much you do know. If someone is thinking of pulling a fast one on you but realises you know more than they first thought, maybe they'll think twice.

Sometimes that helps. Sometimes no matter what a man won't listen to a woman I had a Chevy Cavalier when I was in my early twenties that was a lemon. Of course the mechanics wouldn't listen to me when I took the car in. I had to have my dad go in and they got to work right away. Yes sir. It's not right.

Sometimes, but sometimes you can wrong-foot someone enough that they tread a little cautiously. They may still regard a woman as some precious little thing that should be in the kitchen because she doesn't understand anything mechanical but at least they'll wonder if your talked to a husband/boyfriend/whatever who will come calling if they try and take advantage.

For what it's worth I'm not sure that it's a universally gender-based thing. I guess the person who turns up in a perfectly presented business suit with perfectly manicured hands (the ones that look like they never did a day's physical work in their lives) would also look like they probably don't know anything about engines and just pay someone else when their car needs new turn signal fluid.

Interesting to see mention of the "idiot light" aka the check engine light.

I remember the first time that light lit up in a car I was driving. At that time I had no idea what it meant so I pulled off the road and called the dealership. They confirmed that a steady light meant I could still drive the car but booked it in to take a look. It turned out I hadn't fully tightened the fuel filler cap and left the garage with a bill for about $10. Sadly they declined my request to pay in installments.
