i want to burn an ISO image of HDD just in case one day i need to recover pc due to a malicious program that hijacked OS..it has happened to me in the past. need a good reliable disk imaging program that is free and very easy for senior citizens to make heads or tails out of.

any ideas? i have one to got called drivelimage XML..there is also macrium free but macrium's user interface perplexes me most of the time.

ISO isn't really meant to back up a HDD it is for CD and DVD images. But AOMEI Backupper works very well as backup software and it is free.

very good. ill look into your hints here. the next phase is changing option in booting from a flash drive or disk -DVDRW but I have a dilemma, I already have WD back up mode engaged..it copies files from disk C and saves within the external HDD...then there is macrium which backs up too..i should delete one of them

oh and also, which is better, incremental or differential backups?

ive already done a full backup using drivelimageXML program. one must not take computers too lightly...one day you will face a malicious program that will hijack OS and force self to do a hard reset..which happened to me . i wasnt prepared.

Yes, there are dangers. That is why I've had AOMEI Backupper for a long time doing backups for me every month or so.

I kind of scrapped previous attempts to create system image as well as recovery disk.. just today, I decided to utilize my pc's backup options..added a system image file onto external HDD and created a recovery disk.. silly me -I wasn't entirely clear on how to use macrium and drive image XML or even backupper..those programs I removed already. btw, when I hover cursor over the backed up folder, it said folder is empty and I couldn't access it without admin rights...so iam assuming the backup is in there right?
