Power can be generated by big power plants or by tiny ones. Solar power is on the tiny side of the equation. Some recent developments appear to be moving to whole-of-roof solar cells that will more than cover the energy needs of the family resident under the roof. But there's a snag. What will happen to all the people working in power plants, maintaining electricity distribution networks and so forth?

Right now the cost of solar is prohibitive for upfront cost

It's not too bad. You can get 3 K-watts-hours worth of panels with an inverter for under $2000

3 kilowatts would not support a house, if I had unlimited amount s of money I would go this way but for most itis out of reach

3 K watts will cover my needs.
