God, I dont care how far you take it back you eventually reach a point where you cannot explain how anything came into existance, the first atom or particle and then you realize that there is something far greater than ourselves and this universe

Since it is said that the big band was an eruption of spacetime, the concept of "before" may not apply. If time began at some point in the past, then trying to point to a time before time existed is much like trying to point to a place on Earth south of the south pole.

Yes, if time begins at some point, then a temporal concept pointing to a time prior to that point has no meaning. As to the actual cause of the beginning of spacetime, until science can peer back to that point with a GUT, then I am content to simply say, "I don't know." :D
