I'm not Republican or Democratic. I'm looking for a new president who keeps the old getting social security and medicare and all the new benefits they now get. Also the disabled getting social security and maybe even more money for the disabled because they really get so little. Tuition free college would be a great thing too, many countries already have it. I am also for better gun control. I could say more but I'm just warming up.

We could have some interesting comments because most of your wishes are very good. However, the last few are questionable.
Getting social security & medicare is our right because we (at least most of us) have earned it, paid for it, etc., so we agree on that. Same with Medicare. People who are truly disabled also deserve Disability benefits.
Where I believe things go off the rails is the wish for free college tuition. It simply is not financially feasible. It is true that many other countries have it. But a close check of these countries will show that they either have no military budget (and therefore can use the money elsewhere) or are in a state of financial collapse because of it. Student loans, as long as they are paid back, are certainly an option, though, especially if given favorable interest rates.
As for gun control, you cannot have better gun control than we already have. Every time a murder is committed with a gun, many EXISTING gun laws are broken. Gun laws that are ALREADY on the books. People who are evil and/or crazy do not care how many gun laws exist. No law will stop these people from doing their crimes. Look at Chicago -- dozens of shootings every weekend. And Chicago has the TOUGHEST gun laws in the nation. That, alone, tells us that laws mean nothing at all to the lawless.

I'm a conservative and a registered Republican, but I'm AMAZED - again - at the "field" of applicants we have (from both parties). Seriously, is THIS our nations' best?
I personally think Jeb Bush may be a good applicant but IMO his last name makes him unelectable.... for reasons I don't agree with, I think his running would be doomed by the generally poor feelings people have about the last Bush ... and the general conclusion that THIS family doesn't deserve another term. Clinton has a bit of the same issue, but again for reasons I totally disagree with, people have sainted that name, I think it probably helps her (as sad as that is).
I think Trump is a HUGE embarrassment (I wouldn't vote for him) and could kill the Republican party.
The rest of the applicant field seems to be pretty unimpressive. Originally, I was interested in Cruz and Rubio as Hispanics and new faces - but Cruz has pretty much turned me off and Rubio just seems to be going nowhere. There seems to be more TALK about Walker, and I do want to learn more about him, but my impression of him is that he is BORING and just not likely to engage the independents, the Gen X'er, and some Democrats that are ESSENTIAL for any Republican to win - he'll get all the Republican, White, Middle Class voters (that includes me, lol) but if that's all he does, it will lose in a landslide. We need someone who engages people - a Reagan - and I just don't see one among the way-too-many Republican applicants. But it's early... maybe one will arise, but right now, it sure looks bad.
Feeling sad about this....

Yes, and unfortunately I dont see any difference in the parties for the mostpart other than Republicans do nothing for the poor and then woinder why they have trouble getting elected. Someday they will get the message that trickle down does not work and giving big tax breaks to the wealthy is not good for anyone except their campaign coffers

I watched the later debate, between the 10. My opinion of the candidates mostly rose for all but Trump (who is an embarrassment and a danger).... but I was especially impressed with Rubio and Walker. I still like Bush but consider his name making him unelectable. I'm probably most interested in Rubio now, after the debate. And HOPING Trump disappears, by divine intervention since I'm sure his ego won't allow ANYTHING other than knowing he determined who is the next president of the US: Clinton.

Do you have proof that free education has hurt other countries? We have the richest country of all and I don't think it would hurt us. I still think something else can be done for more control of guns. I do realize that to many criminals it's not hard to get a gun.

On a per-capita basis the USA is not the richest country in the world but that's a question of the distribution of a nation's wealth and I guess the USA is not so good at distributing wealth among its people as some other nations are.
On a percapita basis Switzerland is number one
Sweden comes next

Something along the lines that Sanders is a candidate that I can get excited about because we agree on about 90% of the issues, plus I think he has a lot of integrity. I'm getting pushback from some though, who think that he isn't as 'electable ' as Clinton. ...so it's a conundrum ( assuming it's true, there's still a lot of time)...vote for who one thinks is the best choice in the primaries or vote for the one believed to have the best chance.

The United States does not "distribute" its wealth among its citizens. We are a capitalist nation, not a socialist/communist nation. The USA has reached its high level of greatness because its citizens -- aside from fair taxation -- are allowed to keep what they earn. And they have the freedom and opportunity to be the best they can be. Very few other nations can say the same thing.
I hope that some of us are not suggesting that people should be forced to forfeit their earnings and give it away to those who have not earned it.

Do you have proof that there is some other gun law(s) that will ensure that law abiding citizens have weapons to protect themselves and that will also ensure that criminals will NOT get weapons?

The Republican that I like the most is John Kasich because he is a moderate like me and doesn't seem to be owned by Wall Street or the lobbyists. He has a good heart, and I believe in Medicaid personally for the poor like he does. Plus, he actually is willing to accept the Supreme Court's decision, move on, and treat LGBT people like human beings even though he supported traditional marriage. The only other person on that stage that isn't anti-LGBT is Trump, but he is sexist. So, he really doesn't count.
On the Democrat side, I like Bernie Sanders because he I feel that big businesses keep getting too many tax cuts. I agree the most with him on civil rights as well. He would not allow NSA spying. I don't agree with him on free college education, but I think that would never pass. Congress would not support that legislation.
On the whole, I tend to vote libertarian in most Presidential elections. In the general, I voted for Gary Johnson in 2012 and Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party in 2008 after voting for Ron Paul in both primaries those years.
