I have an appointment with a new doctor today; a chiropractic physician. It's a pretty long drive but he is supposed to be very good. My manager here recommended him and he takes my insurance. I have TMJ and it's a real pain. Has anyone ever had that? I can't eat on one side of my mouth or it's very painful. I hope he can help me get rid of this. He is supposed to specialize in TMJ.

I had to google it, and it sounds like it would be very painful.
I don't think I've ever known anyone who's had that.I am glad your appointment went well, and I hope you soon get relief from it.

Thanks Mark, it can be very painful, yes. I have to make sure not to chew on the effected side of my mouth or it will hurt very bad. I have faith in this doctor that he will cure this.I had to google it, and it sounds like it would be very painful.

Did your doctor advise you to take anti-inflammatory medication, or prescribe anything, or discuss a cortisone (or related) injection to give you some kind of relief in the meantime?

Ruth, I don't have TMJ but a friend of mine does. I remember she had to wear some sort of mouth brace for a while but I'm not sure if that was for the TMJ or other mouth issues.

No mouth brace for me! I see the doctor again on Tuesday. He is working on my neck to relieve the TMJ. I guess it is rooted in the neck.

good evening ruth and all. speaking of mouth pain, I have one tooth that has a slow but noticeable ache. I bought a good OTC drug that is made with eugenol. iam careful not to touch tissue because it burns bad lol. I don't have dental insurance right now.

I haven't gone to sleep yet. Had dinner with a friend and she said a lot of things that upset me and I haven't been able to sleep. She is a very troubled person but I don't know if I can take any more of that. She knows I have PTSD yet said things that made me very fearful and anxious. She really should seek therapy. I think she thinks no one understands her and I have tried to show her that I do yet she gets mean with me. Please pray for her. Her name is Tracy.
