I was thinking it would be good for use in the season of Easter because it depicts the last supper.

I suspect that the Pope's chalices (in the various church buildings in Rome and the Vatican) may be rather old and more Golden.

I see the last supper at the top but what's the design at the bottom?

I think it is Chai Rho, the first two letters of "Christ" in Greek. It may also include a loaf and a chalice as signs of Christ in the Eucharist.

Not especially, no.

I like this one better. Not only does it seem like something Yeshua would more likely make/drink from - it's within my budget - and no people had to be extorted or fooled into giving me the money to buy it or have it made. It's also less gaudy:

That one too is pretty.

The chalices used in the Eucharist are not intended to be replicas of whatever drinking vessel was used at the last supper. It is the content of the chalice that is of paramount importance.
