I completely agree! Sadly, it's found even among some who claim to be "Protestant." And of course, it's a hallmark of all the "cults" (known to me). It's a big red flag (as well as dishonest and power-grabbing and egotistical).

One of the (many) things I loved about my former church was the way people we encouraged to ask questions. On more than one occasion I had a long chat with the minister where we just went over and around things until one or other of us would conclude "I don't know". The first time the minister said he didn't know my respect for him (which was already pretty strong by then) rose even further. The associate minister often said that questioning things was to be encouraged.

Compare and contrast the kind of groups/cults/whatever where certain people are deemed to be above question and above reproach. It doesn't sit very well with very many of the lessons of Scripture.

i never doubt the holy Spirit is at work .. he sleeps not

he was sent to convict the world of sin/ he only speaks what the father is doing /saying and he glorifies Jesus .

what is not a matter of doubt is whether people are listening to him and doing what he tells them instead of ignoring him and speaking in opposition to him .
his work in us is never in opposition to our own will to submit to his work in us

Is it your place to judge whether the Holy Spirit is at work in someone? No. That's kind of the point of my OP.

The Holy Spirit gives us enough knowledge of truth for salvation :) Beyond, that anything else will be explained to us in heaven since we will not know everything there is to know while here on Earth.
We willl not know everything, true, but there is so much more than just being saved if you only open yourself up to it. Many people have a Jesus that only saves and nothing more and that is ashame since there is so much more ioffered

Doesn't the Holy Spirit live in the believer to guide Him to do good and help man on his path?

God will speak through His Word. He has promised us that so we can rely on it.

Yeah some limit Him to that, what about the still small voice? What about the lading into the Word to gain wisdom?

Does that still small voice speak something other than His Word? Too many people rely on that still small voice and yet usually those people don't believe that the Savior saves and they rely on what they think is Him speaking to them..and it's usually their own minds telling them something other than what the bible says.

He will never tell you something that scripture does not back up and yes it is good to have discernemnet and know the difference. How? By exercising the gift of the Holy Spirit and learn His voice

Yet all the time we hear of people saying the Holy Spirit told them...and it's not Him.
