Dog lover here.

I have a Beagle named Zebulon Shadrack (Zeb). He is 8 1/2 years old. Barks too much, but we love him.

He ignores our poor granddaughters, who would love to give him a giant hug. But he is a good dog and takes it.

In the past, we have had 2 Springer Spaniels, and an Irish Wolfhound. What kind of dog do you have?

We used to have a miniatuare schnauzer but she died a year ago and I really miss her. She was so loving and loyal!

I remember her so well.. yes the loss of a pet is like losing a family member.. i have a few friends that only laugh when I tell them this .. but I truly feel that way.. after all .. do you come home from work or whatever.. and after a long days out.. walk through the door and does hubby come running to you and wag his tail ?? LOL ok being serious now... the dog does that and what greater joy to have to walk through that door and have the poochie greet you as if you were the best thing ever.. I had a German Shepherd who I knew was my best buddy.. what greater protector there was.. I could go out and walk the street at night.. many times late at night I would leave my front door open while taking out the garbage cans.. and knew without a doubt if I needed him he was able to come right away.. he would always sit by the door watching but never left the front door unless called upon.. so yes the are the best ever.. I miss having one right now...and would love to get another but the fact is that my son (whom I live with) has a cat and just doesn't get along with dogs ...So yes I'm a dog lover all the way.. in fact I had 5 dogs running my house at one time.. thats another long story LOL

Sorry you guys lost your dogs. When our Springer, Max, died, I was so sad. I still think of him and that was 20 years ago.

Yep..5 dogs at one time.. (german shepherd and 4 cockers.. one of which was my daughters who was living with me at the time) .. Did you ever try and walk around 5 dogs that were barking at the front door when someone rang the door bell?? Talk about being careful of where you step..

But my true favorite was the German Shepherd..ahhh miss him terribly

You think of the dog because to me they are like family and there is no better way to keep the memories alive but to think of the joy and pleasure you had while they were alive.. My first German Shepherd is thought of all the time when I see the same breed walking down the street.. and I had two of them.. there is no better protection then a German Shepherd.. I remember on time when my first GSD was in the back yard and my daughter was there playing with him. I was on the other side of the fence and called to her to come here so that I can pick her up and take her next door with me.. .well they both came and the GSD would NOT let me pick her up.. he growled at me .. why?? because to him his job was to protect her in his area.. even though I was the mom and his owner (alpha to him) he still was doing his job.. so in the end I had to walk all the way around the other side of the house where the gate was and open it to let her out.. that he permitted

I have a terrier mix that I rescued a year ago and the dog is wonderful. He is about 9 or 10 we dont know for sure and yes he is like family to me. I think that this dog has done more for me than I ever did for it. Wouldnt be without him
