So a more lighthearted thread, I guess.

Who has pierced ears? or would consider doing it?

These days men do it as well, of course, and many women do multiples. (A poll is included.)

In the Bible, the pierced ear was the sign of a bondservant, who when offered his freedom, chose to serve his master always: a theme that preaches well, and also applied to the Perfect Servant, Who was obedient unto death (Philippians 2).

I have single pierced ears but haven't worn earrings in a long time so it would be hard to put them in now.

Ty.

So when you reached adolescence maybe it wasn't so much the custom to have them double pierced?

This is always an option; but it's known that in the long run it hurts less to go ahead and have them pierced, than it does to keep wearing clip ons for any significant length of time. Like, getting the piercing over and done with.

No pierced ears for me. Much like the tattoo thing I don't see any purpose in doing it.

As far as I'm concerned nobody sticks anything in me unless it's medically necessary and even then I'd rather they didn't.

It's quite widespread for younger men to do it now, not least adolescents. But you're well past that stage.

Sure, it was growing in popularity when I was younger, it's just something else that's not for me.

Thanks for reminding me I'm getting old through :p

Oh well, but I guess that gently studded lobes can for some ppl represent some kind of rejuvenation, I suppose...

I didn't have them pierced until I was 19 years old and no it wasn't the custom then.

It was a bit more minimalist in those days, I guess! :)

Today, at 18/19 they often get a tattoo; having already gotten a couple of pairs of ear piercings by then, probably.

It's still a matter of everyone being different, though.

Yeah, I guess so.
It's still probably unusual for ppl to go ahead and get inked up before having first gotten some earrings pierced in, though. For a lot of ppl, the earrings are a kind of expected first stage that is gone through before the ink.

There's no need for anyone necessarily to go on to the ink stage after ear piercing. But it's still unusual for ppl to go into the ink stage without having gotten the ear piercings put in first.

Back when I was a teenager it seemed everybody "wanted to be different" and the way they showed that they were different was by doing exactly the same as everybody else.

I got my ears pierced when I was 14 and then double pierced when I was 17 but those have closed up so I now only have the single piercings. I'm allergic to nickel so I rarely wear jewelry.
