I always wanted to live in New Zealand because I heard they had no spiders, but I wonder if it's even true.
I also wanted to live in Canada until I came there once in the winter and wore a ski suit in the mall for the 1 minute walk to the car.

No snakes,every where has spiders..but none that can kill you.. ie ,no black widows .
We have one called a katipo which is a badone but in 40+years iv not ever even seen one.they are that rare. But as far as bush and nature walks.. Yourgreatest danger would be stupidity.lol. (as in not listening to weather warnings etc)

There's a bear roaming our area! I heard it's docile but also heard that it's mating season so he might be aggressive, so which is it? My walks will be me trying to be more aware of my surroundings!! And shorter LOL

Or if it's a problem bear rehomed somewhere else. I know a guy who had a run in with a problem bear. He started carrying a firearm in the woods after that.

That's what I gather, most of the time they'll leave people alone unless they think you're a danger to their cubs. This particular bear was apparently one of the "problem bears" that had been relocated by the state government, and my friend was just the lucky one to encounter it. He got back to his vehicle safely but said it was increasingly disconcerting as this bear kept coming back even when he did all the standard stuff to scare them off.

Now he carries a handgun in the woods, because he doesn't want a repeat experience.
