How does this come into play and how can it be eliminated?

Is your theology so bad that it needs to be eliminated? :p

You changed the thread title! Naughty you!

What exactly is "me theology"?

Hi MoreCoffee,

It doesn't say George changed the thread title. What was it before?

Hi MoreCoffee,

It was longer ... made it sound like he was asking about his theology.

George is an excellent chap. So be nice to him :)

Me theology is where people remove God and what He does from aspects of doctrine and worship.

Examples are:
God did his part and now I have to do mine.

I go to church because it makes me feel good.

It's also labeled "Theology of Glory".

Isn't that anthropology?

ME-ism is the antithesis of Christianity, but sadly this strong Roman influence has attacked Christianity from early days. The power of ME! The authority of ME! God leads ME! God tells ME! God teaches ME! The egoism, the self-centeredness, the self-absorption, the self-glorification is - sadly - a disease in Christianity, an infection aquired from Rome. We see it in the keystone, foundational doctrine of Christianity: justification. People sadly look to SELF in the MIRROR, trusting in the works of ME, relying on the heart of ME, trusting in the righteousness of ME, looking in the mirror.

Christianity got side-tracked and "stuck" as it got infected by the power-mongering, prideful, self-centered "heart" of the Roman Empire. What we need is a re-capturing of community, accountability, humility.

It's not Jesus and ME* it's Jesus and WE.

* "Me" = any one person or denomination.

I can confirm...checked the history of this thread and no edit was made to the title. I know I've looked at threads on my phone before and saw some funky titles before they fully load? Could that have happened?

My pastor had the greatest saying of Look at who is running the verbs! If it's God then we know we are on the right path but if it's me then we aren't worshiping the Savior but instead ME and run away from those me pushing churches that have me in the lead of prayer and song and doctrine and isn't it scary how many supposed Christian churches out there don't detect the dangers their souls are in?

Reminds me of a 'gospel' tune from the Pentecostal church that drove me nuts every time I heard it.
"No matter what the weapon is, I want you to know that 'I Win'!"
Chorus: I win, I win, I win, I win, I win, I win...

Almost like John 10:27 in reverse - "I hear the voice of my sheep, and they know me, and I follow them"
Ummmmmmm.... no.

Yes, that is "me theology" with a capital ME. And yes it is more common in choruses than it was in the old hymns. And far more common in the recent crop of pop tunes sung in some meetings, like the "holy ghost hokey poky"

All the verbs in it are are about you (in the context the same as me).

sounds like most "institutionalized churches " .. and by most i mean .. all of them haha .

since church is not a building where people gather but it is the people in whom the holy Spirit dwells .that living temple(house) of God .you cannot "go " to church but when you gather you "are" the church .. depends in whose name you truly gather . but yes me theology is rife throughout the man made church system . people go to get for me . they get into positions as career choices ..ie for me .. they sing for thier own pleasure .. -for me .. etc

but do they GO and DO that which the lord tells, them to .... nope because that involves putting "me" to death every day .

i attended an institution 2 times this year ,but in no way have neglected gathering together , some time ago the lord led me to stop asking for that which he has already given and instead go and be obedient with what he has already given.. he showed me that when people seek his will and then do not act on it but continue to seek his will .thier disobedience by not acting on what they already know to do opens them up to the spirit of this world to work in them becaseu thier disobedience makes them them the children of disobedience in whom the spirit of this world is at work .

so now i observe people doing what i used to do myself and i warn them as the lord warned me and many others .. (and im speaking outrightly againt charismatic fuzz and feathers here being of pentecostal background i have no problem speaking against its many errors ) if you spend years seeking "the anointing " the "feelings.". the goose bumps and goose feathers but you do not GO and OBEY the lord .. you wil find yourself open, by your disobedience ,to all manner of deceiving spirits .
