I can't tell you how many people my age are all for modernizing the church and getting hymns and the liturgical aspects of the church out, and bringing in contemporary music and making it more attractive.

That's bizarre since I have read and witnessed myself that people in their 20s are the ones wanting the hymns and it's the baby boomers who want the newer modern stuff.

Don't be fooled; pop culture is fleeting and will pass. Any Church that conforms to the fleeting fancies and fashions of the times will soon be discarded as out of fashion and some new fad will take its place. We see it in many of the "seeker friendly churches" that have come and gone as well as in many of the older Pentecostal and Charismatic groups that came with a great fanfare of 1970s pop and are now forgotten. And many young men and women desire something with deep roots and lasting like the liturgy and the ancient churches.
