For those who believe we have a free will, do you pray for the lost? If so, what is your prayer?

There's always hooks in my questions.

What are you asking God to do that He's not already doing?

when i pray for others, i remember that we ALL need prayer...i've been there many times...i knew how utterly weary. defeated, restless, and wretchedly miserable i was, and regardless of how someone may "appear" there is a HUGE hole in their heart and soul that only God can fill. I am infinitely and eternally grateful for any dear souls who were praying for me. i've wrestled with God like Jacob did, but praise God, He won. (i'll explain if you would like me to) The bottom line is, we are finite, weak, and we die, returning to the dust from whence we came. How tragic is that? So yes, i pray that God pierces and wins heart, minds, and souls as only He can do, through me or otherwise. He is our only HOPE. i pray that His precious Light and Hope and Truth will shin e in the darkest of places.

...just a sidenote i pray for "us" and "we" as in all of us needing God desperately....i was in an un-saved condition once....i was blind, and my heart was a heart of stone.....when i pray for those who do not know God "yet", i pray that "we" (me and whoever-sometimes "several" i'm praying for) ...we ALL need God desperately. Kinda' reminds me of David when he said this:

"A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;" ~Psalm 63:1

So you don't believe that God already does all those things? Does He wait for you to pray?

no, He doesn't wait for me to pray. Prayer is merely seeking His face, because we love Him, and it's consequently a celebrating and praising Him, how He mooooooves as we pray, in "us" and in circumstances...and it's not because we pray, but God shows us a glimpse of this:

"The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing." ~Zephaniah 3:17

that's kinda' delightful, isn't it?

We are admonished to pray always (pray without ceasing) and for ALL things. And certainly this applies to burdens that we have for the suffering, the lost, hopeless, etc. There is spiritual warfare raging as we speak. That is why we are admonished to put on the full armor of God. Prayer is part of that. Isn't it?

Yes, i pray that God will intervene in their heart, mind, and soul and win them as only Hew can do. And no, i do not believe that God "needs" our prayers in order for Him to win the hearts, minds, and souls of the lost.

That isn't what prayer is about.

Prayer is our acknowledgement of how very desperately we NEED God, and lifting all up to Him, EVERYTHING that crosses our thoughts and/or heart, including the desperation we see all around us. Yes, we pour it all out to Him, just like David did, and just like Jesus Himself did.

Yes, it is our communication with God

i agree.......it's more about how HE works in "us" when we pray (communicate) to Him, amen.

Is God doing those things anyway?

Off topic. The thread isn't about "what is prayer?".

What was posted ties right into prayer, what it is, and why we do pray. We ARE to pray without ceasing, if we are walking with God, "know" Him, and long to be in His presence and love Him with all our hearts, minds, souls, and strength. If one LOVES someone they "speak"/communicate to them, always. We are to, as it is written in Micah "He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" ~Micah 6:8

This is the difference between "knowing about" God and "knowing" Him, as Jesus Himself emphasized when He said that He will say to some "depart from me, for i never KNEW you."

We are IN this with our God, for as He loves us, so we love others, and of COURSE we pray for them. And yes, we pour our our hearts to God on behalf of the lost. It is part of spiritual warfare that we are INDEED engaged in. It's raging as we speak.

Thank you kindly.

Prayer IS "communication" with God.

Thank you kindly.

That's not what the thread is about. The OP is specific.
